Is your island themed?

My island is loosely based on Nara (the city of polite deer) so half of my villagers are deer, but that's pretty much where the theme stops. Beyond that I have a few Japan-esque areas in my island like a streetfood alley, a Lawson convenience store, and a traditional Japanese inn. But other than that I made whatever I liked - a restaurant, a fruit forest (forest made entirely of fruit trees), a farm (which is so useful now that we have pumpkins!), a campsite, a library, a park, etc. I love the idea of themed islands and would love to visit some, but I think I would feel limited if I tried to make one myself, especially with the rather small furniture selection. Even limiting 5 of my villagers to deer-related species was hard, so I commend the people who are able to pick a theme and stick with it!

I have a My Hero Academia themed island. All my things are references and things from the anime. Even my villagers are supposed to be people from the anime (ex Marshal- Bakugo) :D

My island is loosely themed on my all time favorite movie, JAWS. My resident rep has the same last name as the main character. In my head she's a relative of his. There are a couple of references to the movie around my island as well. It's not totally themed on the movie but it's enough for me.

Yes, my islands theme is "stuff I like" ;)

lol in all honesty though, no not really. I did have a theme... kinda? in acnl (first just a pink spring town, then a stormy summer town), but even those themes were pretty vague. In acnh I have a more... countryside area, a more asian looking area, a more developed looking area, etc... I don't really like being confined to one theme, especially since items are so much more limited in acnh compared to acnl (in regards to the types of items available), so my theme for acnh is just literally a nice little island I'd like to live in lol

The theme of my island is definitely heading for that good ol mountainous-forest-supernatural town vibes, just a little off on the surface but when you start looking? werewolves, witches, vampires oh my!

I plan on a mediterranean-style port town. Still working on it. I didn’t particularly theme my villagers around it or anything, I just opted to go for ones I like with houses I like.

@meggiewes - Ah, I've only just now seen the DA request but that part is already gone now.

It wasn't really hard to make though! I had an island layout from the start with a pond on the bottom right. I simply expanded upon that pond with the terraforming tool using a screenshot reference from the field scene in Howl's Moving Castle. I just followed the overall shape of the lake in the movie, but downscaled. The only hard part about it was deciding where to round the edges in narrower spaces but that's a matter of trial and error, switching it up and finding out what you personally find pleasing to see. Then I placed some cliffs around it, which was really just done randomly and without much thought besides what felt natural to myself.

my island theme is fairy pokemon and it's inspired by pokemon fairy towns ^^ i really enjoy having a theme i actually feel like i have a personal connection with, since pokemon is a huge part of my life. It's so much easier to follow than a generic theme, cause that usually ends up with me questioning all my decor choices and comparing my island to others. I tried cottagecore before but didn't last long, it's cute and aesthetic but not really my thing atm, and i'm a little burnt out from seeing it everywhere (nothing wrong with people enjoying that though and i do like seeing their cute posts!).
