Island help!

So for the longest time I wanted to go with the name Delfino because Isle Delfino or Noki Bay ( yes, Super Mario Sunshine ), but recently I've been thinking of going with more of a cute name like the suggested Seafoam or Seaspell (which were suggested by sierra here) and I'm stuck on what to do: go with what I originally planned and something that means something to me, or to go with something that's cute and that's something I simply just like because it's cute?

I know there have been a lot of idea threads and such but I was wondering what specifically to do for my island because I seriously can't make up my mind and I wanted to know what all of you think

Also if you have a specific one of the four you like best, please let me know <3

I vote for naming your island something meaningful. Those cute names are fine, but if they don't mean as much to you, then you might regret naming your island that. We don't know if we'll be able to rename our island later. I think it's best to assume no for now, since we've never been able to rename our towns in the past.

Don't feel bad about liking something just cause it's cute. It doesn't have to have layers of meaning to be a good name. On the other hand I see the appeal of sentimental island names. Here is a kind of "hack" to see what you really want (worked for me at least).

Another positive about sentimental names is that later on, if you think "huh I don't really like the way it sounds as much" the fact that it means something to you can save you from resenting it in the future.

I would stick to something that has meaning to you. You could always add sea to it, DelfinoSea or DelfinoBay. I’m using bay in my island name

I'd personally go for a 'cutesy' name over something else that already has a meaning assigned to it. Then you can make that word be associated with your own unique island memories. <3

I agree with what you said, it would be cool to create your own meaning through your island c:

I also personally have chosen more cutesy names in the past because animal crossing is a cutesy game!

Like, unless you personally worked on developing those areas in Super Mario Sunshine, they shouldn?t hold that much sentimental value other than being connected to something you like. AC is already something you like a lot too, so any name you choose can get that attachment over time!

I agree with the previous poster and prefer not using names from other franchises?I want my town to mean something on its own. That, to me, makes a name like Seafoam/Seaspell etc. more meaningful rather than less.

All of them are really nice! So I would just try to choose something that you know you will love long term. You could also use Delfino as inspiration, but change it up a little. Maybe something like:

Delphi Bay

Delfi Cove

Delfino is adorable. I'm very picky and almost always want to change my game names, but I tend to like them better when they have some sort of meaning behind it

The game doesn't come out for a while yet, so don't worry. Just take your time and brainstorm til you find something you really like!

As others have said here, I vote for not using something with sentiment and memory already attached. Create a new world that new sentiment and memories will be built upon! Potentially rivaling even Delfino, since this world was handcrafted by you in both designation and design.

I understand what you're saying, I guess what it is for me is that since these games (like Sunshine) meant a lot to me growing up, it feels like making it a part of my AC world makes it also feel more me.

I like this too, mixing what already has meaning to me and making it my own at the same time it's so cute, I love these ideas. Building on the last idea, maybe Delphi Sea?
