Least favorite character in fiction

I actually have another character to add to my hate list. Along with Courtney (Total Drama) and Bebe (South Park), I would like to throw in Betty (Atomic Betty) to the list of fictional characters. Just thinking about her whininess, immaturity, and her distaste in important stuff in life (going outer space like what she does is not important) makes me want to add her.

Not only that, but she is ugly.

From all of literature and media, who is your least favorite character or characters in fiction? I would also like to see some reasoning. This includes TV shows, movies, and video games.

In my opinion, Courtney from Total Drama is the worst character in fiction. She has serious social problems. She's hypocritical (Phobia Factor), she's useless but doesn't want people voting her off (Not so great outdoors), and she can get really violent (several episodes I could name of). Not only that, but she is a sue happy brat. She sued the show because Chris wouldn't let her join season two, and then, she tried to dominate the show as she got unfair advantages. She cares about winning over anything, including other people. She always whines when things don't go her way, and she refuses to learn lessons. You know, it's always good to have characters that are dramatic along with good characters when writing a story, otherwise it won't be a good story after all. But Courtney is too much, and her aggressive behavior and violent personality (both coming from the inside and not the outside) helped ruin Total Drama for me. Total Drama Island was fine (even her before her unfair elimination), but I stopped watching after Total Drama Action. Oh, and one last thing, she accepted her elimination in TDI the least out of the 22 contestants that attended TDI.

Another fictional character I hate is Bebe Stevens from South Park. Although she's fine most of the time (she hasn't done anything annoying in Season 18), she is a bad person in some of the episodes (like The List and the photoshopping episode). She's not bad as Courtney, but I regret being a fan of her.

I'm not for sure, but I think Heather was way worse when getting voted off the first time.

Ash Ketchum (Particularly in the Best Wishes seasons)

Okay, so there are several things I can't stand about him. First, no matter how many years/seasons have passed by, Ash has managed to stay the same age. I mean, they don't state that he hasn't aged, but they don't state it vice versa either. Another thing is sometimes he doesn't evolve certain Pokemon of his, for what reason? And no, I'm not talking about Pikachu. I'm talking about mother loving Scraggy, Snivy, and Oshawott in particular in the Best Wishes series. He went through his WHOLE adventure only evolving Tepig. ONCE. And the battle it evolved in was really unrealistic. It was Tepig and Snivy versus a Heatmor and an Emboar, and somehow evolving once into a Pignite makes you able to beat your evolved form and another strong fire type? I don't think so. That doesn't make sense at all. Also, how Ash ALWAYS gives away strong pokemon, like
Goodra
for example. He also fights at a type disadvantage half the time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but some of the battles he's won just seem unrealistic if done in a Pokemon video game for me. I wished they had gotten rid of Ash after Unova and made a series out of Origin with Red, which a lot of people, including me, would of loved. Boo, Ash. Just... Just go away.

steven from steven universe, yeah i watched some episodes in the beginning and i honestly cant stand him. hes annoying and the way people r obsessed with him is annoying

I never seen Steven Universe, but after seeing some pictures, the drawing style seemed terrible in my opinion.

Yo real talk Andy from the office is real ****ing annoying

I hate more characters than I love, that's for sure, but I'll just list ones that come to mind. Obviously, there will be spoilers.

Kikyo from InuYasha. Oh my god. It's been over a year since I finished the entire series, so I can't back up my hatred with a well written explanation, but one of the main gripes I had with the series whilst watching it revolved around her. First off, Kagome was my favorite character from the series, so my reasons are partially biased. When Kikyo FIRST comes back from the dead, she's totally vengeful and totally annoying, but it was reasonable. But when she kept coming back from the dead, my patience was being tested. I just...wanted her to stay dead. That plot was being overused. I was so over it. The fact that she doesn't die FOR GOOD until The Final Act was ridiculous. And because of her, I also kinda hated InuYasha?? Like, he wouldn't let Kagome go, but it honestly just felt like he loved Kikyo more anyway and it was really frustrating to sit through, considering their love triangle lasted like 160 episodes.

Mikasa from AoT. I'll probably get crap for this one, but oh my god, I can't stand her. To be fair, a small part of it is fueled by the fact that seemingly everyone worships her? But she's such a Mary Sue. I'm all for the portrayal of strong female characters in fiction (my favorite character from AoT is Annie, so obv?) but her character just feels so flat to me. For one, a big chunk of her character revolves around a male character (i.e., her obsession with Eren. I get that he helped her during a vital moment from her childhood and that he's practically "the only family she has left" but the way her care for him is portrayed doesn't sit well with me). Not to mention, if you're caught up with the manga, it's basically revealed that the source of her OVERPOWERED skills come from the fact that she has the blood of both the warrior clans that are able to challenge the royal family. So cliched, I'm yawning. Also, I don't think she's gone through the teeniest bit of development, though to be fair, AoT sucks with character development in general lol.

Amy Pond from Doctor Who.

I mean, Rose was kind of the same way but she didn't constantly go back to Mikey and the Doctor over and over. Amy is just so terrible to Rory and not to mention, is just a boring character overall. The only thing that is interesting is her accent.

Kirito from SAO is particularly annoying (well so is Asuna, but I never really like most of the girl characters in anime to begin with). He let's his sister do all the work around the house while he goes off to play videogames. She's been there for him for a good portion of his life and how does he repay her? By abandoning her for a girl he met online. He goes out like a dumb f*** trying to risk his life for a girl he never really met in person. Asuna was cool at first, but then she turned into the typical damsel in distress. I stopped watching after that.

People who can be classified under the Mary Sue label in general, but especially if I don't feel like their perfection is justified. I can't connect to these people as characters if they don't have something that holds them back, even if it's not obvious. No way in zel am I going to believe someone can get 100's all the time and end up succeeding in any situation and keep stealing the glory.
The closest examples I can come off of are Doraemon's Dekisugi/Ace (Especially after the line where he says he doesn't take notes of class, yet gets perfect grades consistently. I know it's 3rd grade, but still...) and any Touhou character in fanon when their power is overestimated (Yukari tends to get the biggest problem here).

Yamamoto in Bleach. Absolutely HATE him.
Also, whatever the character Andre Braugher did for Law & Order: SVU that one time. It did for him what No Country for Old Men did for the actor in that; I can't look at that actor without feeling a little sickened because of that part he did.

You called?
And I don't understand how you can overestimate the power of the person who killed Cthulhu. You're welcome.

Otto Rocket from Rocket Power.
Any episode where he got injured was a good episode.

Lol, how is Touhou that annoying? I personally love the stuff around if (and Japanese gaming in general). Touhou needs more love, not hate.

Lori from the Walking Dead. I was glad to see her go.

Surprised no one has mentioned Makoto Itou from School Days

Renge from OHSHC, Ramsay Bolton from ASOIF/GOT, Dumbledore, Tom Buchanan, and the majority of the male characters in SAO

renge feels like someone's bad self-insert OC... which is really weird because i have a soft spot for literally every single other main/supporting character in OHSHC and it is my favorite series. she just doesn't fit.

ramsay does not need to be explained. die, ramsay.

dumbledore was a conceited old man who only sought bonds with others to do his bidding imo. sure, his bidding was generally for the good of all mankind... but it was still his bidding

tom buchanan filled the dominant-male-double-standardy-niche that i hate (which, i guess, was kind of the purpose of the book). like, yeah, he's allowed to be happy and have what he wants, WHEN he wants, but Daisy isn't. so Daisy ran over what he wanted. and then Gatsby gets killed for it. Gatsby just wanted to live the good life, old sport...

all of the male characters in SAO are perverted, at least on some level, and a good few of them are absolutely EVIL, so... yeah

Ramsay from Game of Thrones. I don't think I need to say why.

Let's hope he gets a just punishment soon.
