TAKE TWO!

So I got the merged real/fake facts one shut down, because I wasn't learning ANYTHING! Darn the education system for failing us all!

So here we go a second time around, I am going to (for the second time) attempt to help this poor community fill it's days with knowledge!

Have a radical cool completely true fact that you just yearn to share with the world? This is the place to do it!

Rules:
True facts ONLY
Appropriate for all audiences facts ONLY
Don't mess this up for everyone else <3

RADICAL TRUE FACT YO: The little pink bit on the inner corner of your eye is the leftover piece of the second inner pair of eyelids we outgrew during our evolution. It's called a Plica Semilunaris.

Scientist have figured out how to essentially "delete" bad memories while leaving pleasant ones. We're one step closer to being able to reenact Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! Meet me in Montauk!

^Contortionists are rad.

Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard during high school and saved 77 people’s lives.

I like this thread. This is what I specialize in... to a certain extent. :)

Fact: humans belong to the order Primates. So do lemurs, lorises, tarsiers, new world monkeys, old world monkeys, and other apes such as gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, and gibbons/siamangs. You might be wondering "why are we grouped together with lemurs, those funny guys that are in the movie Madagascar?" That is because we share a variety of characteristics, or a primate pattern, with them! I could go on and on about it, haha.

When you eat pineapple, that stinging sensation is essentially the pineapple eating you right back. It contains an enzyme called Bromelain which breaks down proteins. Luckily when you swallow and digest the pineapple your stomach is able to break down the enzyme before it can break down your insides!

Did you know that the shiny coating on a lot of popular candies is made from bug feces? Shellac, also known as confectioner’s glaze, is made from a resin excreted by the female lac beetle, indigenous to India and Thailand. The resin is processed into flakes, dissolved in denatured alcohol to make liquid shellac, and then sprayed on food products or used to make lacquer for hardwood floors and furniture. It is also what is sprayed on grocery store apples to make them shiny and keep them fresh in the store.

?So I?m thinking of trying live birth in the tsetse fly.?

?What? Why? What?s wrong with laying eggs like all the other insects??

?I don?t know, it just seems so inefficient. You go to all the trouble of making eggs, and then most of them just get squished or frozen or eaten for dinner before they can even develop. Why not just pop out a whole larva once a week and then be done with it??

?Once a week??

?Well, yeah, they?ve got to keep up with the egg-layers somehow.?

?Gross, evolution.?

?Miraculous, you mean.?

In Cripple Creek, Colorado it is illegal to bring your horse or pack mule above the ground floor of a building.

A dog has the same ecological footprint as two Toyota Landcruisers; a cat the same environmental effect as a Volkswagen Golf; two hamsters the same as a plasma TV.

Fact: Most people know that a group of wolves is called a pack, and a group of fish is called a school. Lesser-known, though, is that a group of sharks is a shiver, a group of leopards is a leap, and a group of rhinoceroses is a crash.
