I'm pretty much just using whatever villager images have a transparent background - I don't check to see if they're in New Leaf or not.
So it's possible I could pick a villager who doesn't exist in the new game.- - - Post Merge - - -

Haha well, admittedly, most will probably come from New Leaf, since the updated pictures are higher quality, and more likely to have a transparent background
