Let's talk about Lottie...

I've never really been fond of Lottie or Lyle, but new content is new content. If this actually happens, the likelihood of which seems to be in question, the mention of ceiling fixtures and/or possibly being able to redesign villager home interiors sound more likely to me than the mention of more home exterior choices. Granted, I'd love more home exterior options since the selection feels a bit more uniform and stifled compared to New Leaf's offerings, but it feels like it would be sort of a weird and convoluted way to bring them in when Tom Nook already handles that side of things. Perhaps Lottie's introduction and more focus on the Happy Home Academy, if that's still a role she serves in this game, could see Tom Nook add more exterior selection options as a tie-in.

I guess I'm down for whatever until we know more. Ceiling fixtures in particular sound nice. If they never reimplement the option to set appointments to visit your residents' houses and buy junk from them (Klaus has two pieces of clothes just sitting in his house currently and I dislike it), and I doubt they will because that seems like something that would have been in the game at launch if there was any intention of it whatsoever, then the option to redesign their houses sounds like a fine compromise. It feels like maybe a bit of overreach to me, but hey, I wouldn't complain. It would seem especially useful for any residents you acquired from the early game, like the starting Jock and/or Sisterly or the initial Lazy, Normal, and/or Peppy you can acquire from the Nook Miles Islands.

If it does come to pass, I'm interested in seeing what her role ends up being.

I never played HHD but I loved Lottie in pocket camp and the decorating tasks. I wouldn't mind if something like that was added to new horizons, especially if we got cool rewards for completing tasks. I LOVE the idea people have been mentioning of being able to change the interior of villager houses! Some of their houses need major help, and some would be perfect with just a quick change of wallpaper/flooring. I really, really hope that we will get that option but honestly I have no idea what they are planning.

That could be really good for the people who really don't want certain things in villagers homes and they wanted a way to make them get rid of it. The feature to buy junk from them would be nice. Its similar to the Flea Market event (which didn't return) from City Folk where you can go into villagers homes and buy what they are selling of course back then the pricing was restrictive and there was only a random select items you can buy so you never knew what items they had for sale or not.

Also customizing how villager's homes look like would be really nice same with the shops and Resident Services. After 1 year I really don't like how they look and they don't fit well with the theme my island has so if we had the option to customize them that would be really nice. Also Ceiling furniture sounds really cool. I never played HHD but if thats what they want to do I welcome it because while island designing is really good I feel like our homes took a backseat and they didn't stand out too much. Of course this is all wishful thinking, but that her role could actually be really important for our island if she were to come and visit and actually work with us.

I’d love to customize villager house exteriors so that they can fit better with my island theme. We need pastel zen houses!
