Oh dear, I'm not too great at double battles either. I've always leaned more on singles.
I recommend looking up "Doubles RMT 2014" for advice on various other forums.
It always helps me get an idea of what I'm doing. x'D

Yeah, singles is my safe haven. lol I don't stray from it too much since the doubles and triples are like a whole new world.
But I'm trying to branch out so I can play in the doubles battles for something different and unique and so I can also play multibattle with my brother.
