The Story

I am crying as I type this, so please excuse any word mistakes I may make.
As the thread says, my dog is dying. His name is Sarge, and I've had him since I was six years old (I'm eighteen now). He was coughing terribly lately, and today, he started having trouble breathing. We took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, which means his heart is weakening, and his lungs are filling with fluid. It is treatable, but it's not going to get any better. He is also getting old, and has other health problems along with this. The veterinarian didn't give us an exact amount of time until he passes, but he did say it won't be long. This dog means the absolute world to me, and my heart is broken. He's actually my aunt's dog, but we live five minutes away from each other, and he's been my best friend for almost my whole life.

I know you all have busy lives, and I'm not sure if any of you draw animals, but it would mean so much to me if I could get some art of him. Any kind of art would do; pen, pencil, digital. Also, any pose would do; headshot, full body, chibi, ANYTHING. I would like to have it printed at a shop nearby: a copy for me, a copy for my aunt, and a copy to display at the funeral we have for him. I can't offer much, I can offer some tbt, and even some real life money, but I'm in college and don't have too much money to spare with the other expenses I have. Again, this art would mean the world to me, it would be a wonderful remembrance of him when he does pass.

If you don't do art, if it's not too much to ask, can you keep him in your thoughts or prayers? I hate to see him in so much pain. Thank you in advance for all you can do.

With love, Kayla and Sarge

*Also, if you can afford to donate anything, or would just like to read more of Sarge's story, this is the link to his GoFundMe Page: Sarge's Medical Expenses*

UPDATE 4/9/15: Today, we took Sarge to his first appointment with the specialist for his sickness. He did more x-rays and he confirmed that his heart is enlarged, along with the Congestive Heart Failure. He's on three medications as of right now, that he takes three times per day. Even after his first couple of doses, we've seen improvement. He's coughing a lot less, which is a great sign. He's also moving around a lot more. The specialist gave him an estimated life expectancy of about six months. The longest he's seen a dog last with what he has is two years, but like I said in the OP, Sarge has other health problems as well. I guess that makes his life expectancy less.
This art you have all submitted means the absolute world to me. I honestly cannot thank you all enough. I can't wait to get them printed and surprise my aunt with them. They're all beautiful in so many different varieties of ways. I will update more as I/we find out more about Sarge. Again, thank you all.

UPDATE 5/16/15: Sarge is doing quite well, considering the circumstances. He's not allowed to go on far walks or play like he used to, and he's not allowed to eat as much because he'll gain weight with the lack of exercise. He seems happy, though. He's on three medications that are keeping him pain-free and somewhat happy. Thank you to everyone that has submitted art for him so far, I love each and every piece.

Thank you so much, anything would mean the world to me. -hugs-

I'm not an artist but I know the feeling of losing a best friend. My dog passed away last year and I miss her all the time.
I know it'll be hard but just know that he'll no longer be in pain. And he'll be with you always, looking after you. Even if that sounds stupid to say I think he'll always be with you no matter where you go. I hate when people say dogs or any animal has no feelings well excuse me but they do. I bet you he loves you to pieces. And no matter what, he'll be by your side till you guys meet again.
Stay strong hun, hugs for you and your beautiful dog.

I'll try and make you something. Consider it free. I know what is it like to lose an animal you love.

Awww! What a sweet baby!

It's hard to watch your furry friend go through this part of life. I hope you and your family will have comfort and peace when the time comes. Sarge knows how much he's loved. He'll always love you too.

I drew him out as an animal crossing villager for you. I based his pose on Walker and gave him the red zap suit.

I am sending ALL my love your way <3 i will be drawing something for you, hopefully I'll be able to send it your way soon!
you and your family is in my thoughts

I understand your plight completely. I lost my own dog last summer due to old age, and I still miss him terribly. I'm not that great of an artist, but... I'll still try to provide something for you. Free, of course- I'm happy to help out.

EDIT: He's finished now. All I need to do is scan the drawing into the computer- but of course, that's not going well. Nevertheless, I'll post the drawing here as soon as the scanner does something.

Oh nooo this is so sad :( *cries
Sadly I suck at drawings animals, but maybe I can try something...

but don't forget, Sarge won't die. As long as you keep him in your heart and he won't be forgotten, he will continue living inside you c:

If you don't mind something fairly doodly then I'll see what I can do! I'm sorry I won't have time for a full painting but I just want to say my thoughts are with you. I lost furry friends myself and know how devastating it is.

My cat hasn't been himself lately (usually full of energy, playful and loves exploring) but he's been sleeping only to get up to eat or use his litterbox. Taking him to the vet today, hopefully its nothing serious but yeah the scare is there. I know how you feel, its losing a family member/loved one.

My family cat Daisy died when I just started college. We had her since I was about 5 years old. Such a sweet, loyal, playful kitty. In her last month we were told she had a tumor on her tongue and nothing we could do about it. Once it grew big enough that she couldnt eat food, we knew we had to put her down. So we made the time she had left as comfortable and loving as possible. We were lucky that we could be with her the whole time and say goodbye. I still get teary-eyed when I think about her. All I can say is be with Sarge for as long as he has, if he is like Daisy then he will be happy to have his family with him.

Aw I'm sorry to hear this, but remember he will always be alive in memories and your heart<3

I drew a little something, although its not that good:)

Thank you so much everyone for all of the kind words and art. I will be giving them all to my aunt, I know she'll love each and every one. This is a very tough time for my family and I, and you've all made it a little better. ♡

All right, here it is. I'm sorry the shading didn't transfer over too well, and I had to improvise a little bit with the collar- and that my writing's a little bit askew, but I hope it's to your liking anyway.

EDIT: Also ignore that line at the top. It scanned in a little bit crooked.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear this! My first pup had the same thing.
But he passed away three years after he was diagnosed when he was 14 so he had a good life.

I can't draw very well but I just wanted to stop by and wish you, Sarge, and your family the best of luck through this time. <3

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that. Three years is a long time though, that's great that he made it so long! He's adorable. Thank you so much for the well wishes! ♡
