Live and let live.
The Story
I am crying as I type this, so please excuse any word mistakes I may make.
As the thread says, my dog is dying. His name is Sarge, and I've had him since I was six years old (I'm eighteen now). He was coughing terribly lately, and today, he started having trouble breathing. We took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, which means his heart is weakening, and his lungs are filling with fluid. It is treatable, but it's not going to get any better. He is also getting old, and has other health problems along with this. The veterinarian didn't give us an exact amount of time until he passes, but he did say it won't be long. This dog means the absolute world to me, and my heart is broken. He's actually my aunt's dog, but we live five minutes away from each other, and he's been my best friend for almost my whole life.
I know you all have busy lives, and I'm not sure if any of you draw animals, but it would mean so much to me if I could get some art of him. Any kind of art would do; pen, pencil, digital. Also, any pose would do; headshot, full body, chibi, ANYTHING. I would like to have it printed at a shop nearby: a copy for me, a copy for my aunt, and a copy to display at the funeral we have for him. I can't offer much, I can offer some tbt, and even some real life money, but I'm in college and don't have too much money to spare with the other expenses I have. Again, this art would mean the world to me, it would be a wonderful remembrance of him when he does pass.
If you don't do art, if it's not too much to ask, can you keep him in your thoughts or prayers? I hate to see him in so much pain. Thank you in advance for all you can do.
With love, Kayla and Sarge

UPDATE 4/9/15: Today, we took Sarge to his first appointment with the specialist for his sickness. He did more x-rays and he confirmed that his heart is enlarged, along with the Congestive Heart Failure. He's on three medications as of right now, that he takes three times per day. Even after his first couple of doses, we've seen improvement. He's coughing a lot less, which is a great sign. He's also moving around a lot more. The specialist gave him an estimated life expectancy of about six months. The longest he's seen a dog last with what he has is two years, but like I said in the OP, Sarge has other health problems as well. I guess that makes his life expectancy less.
This art you have all submitted means the absolute world to me. I honestly cannot thank you all enough. I can't wait to get them printed and surprise my aunt with them. They're all beautiful in so many different varieties of ways. I will update more as I/we find out more about Sarge. Again, thank you all.
UPDATE 5/16/15: Sarge is doing quite well, considering the circumstances. He's not allowed to go on far walks or play like he used to, and he's not allowed to eat as much because he'll gain weight with the lack of exercise. He seems happy, though. He's on three medications that are keeping him pain-free and somewhat happy. Thank you to everyone that has submitted art for him so far, I love each and every piece.
