I didn't see a thread for general life updates. If there is one, I'm sorry

I'm seeing a dietitian for the first time. Fingers crossed. I'm worried I'm not getting everything I need with the super restrictive diet I'm on to manage my Crohns symptoms. I can't eat processed sugar, processed foods, most fruits or vegetables, greasy foods, the list goes on. I feel good about it, the woman I'm seeing today has a lot of experience dealing with patients with IBS/IBD

What's going on with you guys?

Cool thread, I've always wanted to note some interesting happenings during my day that don't exactly fall into the "random things" or "what makes you happy" threads.

Watched Encanto today with the bf, it was really nice. Love the songs and the visuals, and that ending was lovely as well. Now I can finally understand all those Encanto tiktoks I've been seeing.
I started on my Floral Froglet crochet today! Stared making the eyes, once they're done I'll have to figure out how to make the body, hmm. Mind you I'm not going off of any instruction or manual here, but part of what I love about crafting is improvising and learning how to make things yourself, so I'm excited.
Smaller updates today: finally finished my commission carrd and art shop, finished a small GIF that turned out really cute, cleaned and moped the house and my room today. Pretty productive day overall.

Well, it has been a couple of months since alot of sugar was cut out of my diet between staying away from sweets in general (peanut m&ms have been the exception to the sweets rule... and depending who you are, you may consider breakfast cereal as a sweet) and finding drinks that don't have any sugar or aspartame which gives me headaches. I like soda for the bubbles, but we found this drink called Zevia that is like soda, but no sugar and no coloring. Also, there is this drink I really like called Ice that doesn't have sugar.
I am not a diabetic or anything, but sugar is everywhere in the US, and finding some ways to cut it down I think is always a step in the right direction.

I like this thread's idea too!

One thing Is that I set up a number of goals for 2022, well for the year and also broken down by month. Instead of a resolution I'm trying to encourage myself to do things like exercise regularly, read more books, make more YT videos, etc. and I do that through a number of checklists.

Also over the weekend after visiting the small town I used to live in I realized that I definitely want to move out of the city when I'm ready to start a family and that helped to set a goal in my mind.

Ironic that a thread like this was created exactly when my life starts to crumble...

Last time I had artificial sweeteners, I got kidney infection, and I think they had something to do with it. I cut out sugar entirely a year ago. I had to, my body couldn't process it properly. I dropped quite a bit of weight between then and now. The first 4-6 months are difficult, but you get used to it eventually

You want to talk about it? My DMs are open

Update: It went well. Prescribed me a cocktail of supplements/vitamins. I'm getting them from a website called Fullscript in case anyone's curious. I live in the United States; *supplements are completely unregulated here, so it's important that you get it from a reputable distributor. She also suggested some major diet changes, said I should go gluten-free and see if that does anything. Apparently gluten's tied to GI issues

*correction: they're underegulated, not completely unregulated.

Honestly just doing what someone else mentioned here and looking for another job. I‘ve been going through several offers and weeding out the ones I’m not interested in at all. I also have another company in mind where I have not one, but two references.

Other than that I’ve just been doing martial arts still after having done it for almost 15 years and working my current job.

A couple months ago I began having problems at work with feeling like I’m on the verge of passing out. I ended up having bloodwork done and everything came back healthy except for low vitamin D levels, which I’m taking vitamins for. I still experience this sometimes and I have no idea what’s causing it seeing as I’ve never dealt with this before. It isn’t COVID, I know that, because I’m triple vaxxed and I’ve never had COVID. Could just be anxiety, but then again it still happens even when I take my anxiety medication. It has gotten better, but I still wear a Fitbit in order to monitor my heart rate regularly.

Nice idea for a thread. I like it. I’m just grinding out some paychecks to put in my savings account and waiting for my tax return. I want to see how much that gives me and go from there. I’m looking into finding an apartment that doesn’t involve a credit check, so basically private landlords. I’m dead set on finding a place in a location where it doesn’t snow. It sucks not having connections out of where your birthplace, which is a pretty gloomy city to begin with. It just gives me more satisfaction when I do move out, if I did it by myself. Moving out of state is a difficult task, though, let me tell you. It’s something that will happen this year, though. I’m tired of white stuff on the ground. I’m tired of single digit weather. I’m tired of being in a city that doesn’t have anything worth seeing. It’s the same thing. Sometimes you need a change of scenery, and I want to give myself that.

I applied for a job and got an interview, but I forgot to mention that this would be my second job, so my referee told them that when they called since they just straight up asked them "Why is she leaving her current job?" Now I'm stressed out because I'm overthinking it because it really doesn't matter if I get rejected at this job. I have read bad reviews written last month about working there so it wouldn't be a huge loss lol. But the extra money would be reeeeeeeally nice since i'm (unfortunately) the second main income of the household.
really feels like i have lost my youth and all i do is support my family without enjoying my own life while they get to enjoy theirs, including my parents lmao. i have a car but no freedom. imagine that lol

In the health section, I am going to get my moles checked for melanoma. I finally put some money aside for it since it is not cheap at all lol.

For the entertainment section, I am slowly getting through my to-watch movie list. Currently on the Wes Anderson movies since I watched The French Dispatch at the movies last month and enjoyed it.

Slowly working on maintaining my health for the new year! I upped my cardio intensity from a 20 minute walk/jog to a 30 minute jog/run. It's not too bad so far. I think after a couple of months of increased cardio, I will be able to add targeted strength training again. Just worried my out-of-shapeness is going to contribute too negatively to any specific strength training regimen.

I'm not a doctor but my sister-in-law has IBS and going gluten-free helped her a lot. I hope you find something that works for you.

As for myself, I've been seeing a counselor for anxiety and depression since September of last year. I was doing a litle better but then the holidays hit me really hard, so she recommended Lexapro to help manage my stress levels and take the edge off. She's not able to prescribe it herself, so I'll be setting up an appointment to talk to my doctor hopefully soon. I just have so many appointments this month and can only miss so much time from work. It might have to wait a few weeks.

This thread's a good idea! It leaves room for life happenings that aren't necessarily good or bad.

Made plans to go to my friend's place for dinner tomorrow! Very excited to see him since we haven't met up since Christmas Eve. Haven't seen our other friends for even longer than that, so I'm v happy to be seeing them again. But I'm kinda worried...
I got my period back last month after a year without it due to being underweight thanks to my eating disorder. But last time, right before I got my period, I got really, really sick to the point of vomiting everything I ate/drank, and basically being immobile in bed due to extreme nausea for 24 hours. Now my next period is due and I'm terrified of this happening again, especially since it means I would have to miss meeting up with my friends if it happens tomorrow

I've just been trying to get myself to walk to the store. I struggle with agoraphobia sometimes.

Aside from that, I'm trying to lose weight. I've gained quite a bit since getting on some of the meds I'm on for bipolar/schizoaffective disorder. Trying to cut back on sugar because I'm obsessed with sweets.

I had a super productive day yesterday but today I slept till 3pm 😒

Tomorrow I'm hoping to walk to the store, and go the library because my books are overdue

I need to go to the dentist next week, I've been putting it off for a long time but I can't put it off anymore

That's reassuring. I hope everything works out for you

I thought about getting one for my Dad; he had a heart attack a couple years ago. That was until I found out they can't accurately read people of color — Fitbits use green light, which melanin absorbs. It's really scary this isn't common knowledge

They're not medical devices. Their website explicitly says this. Fitbit was actually sued for inaccurate heart readings not too long ago

Yeah, I already knew they weren’t completely accurate, but it’s the closest option I could find at the time to reading it at all. Everything I’ve seen on it has been normal, however. I haven’t seen any ridiculous numbers, which leads me to believe there’s nothing physically wrong with me (combined with the fact that my blood test came back healthy again).

I have a feeling it may be sleep-related because I missed sleep on various nights last year. I’ve been getting better sleep recently, and the problem has begun to dissipate. So, that’s probably why.

Ohh, I get that. That's good to hear

Just had a session with my therapist for the first time in about a month. He was in Germany visiting family for the holidays. Very refreshing session. Got a bit off of my chest! I've been taking my pills as prescribed and because of that I feel a looot better. The difference from being on an antidepressant versus not being on one is really big! I have never been on an antidepressant... Only mood-stabilizers and the like. So, being on both makes me feel twice as good.

On a similar note, the antidepressant makes my dreams really weird; sometimes even scary. They're so vivid and I remember them all T^T Definitely not good for my paranoia, as I believe sometimes dreams have meaning. However. I feel tons better being on this medication. I noticed I've been a lot more chipper than I normally am. Life is good!

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with my psychiatrist. I'm supposed to be on another medication for my ADHD, but needed a prior-authorization for it. That got approved but my medication never got filled? Not exactly sure if that's a pharmacy issue or not. So I'll have to talk to my psychiatrist and figure out what to do from there.

Meanwhile, only one of my wisdom teeth are coming in. My mom says I should call the dentist to schedule an appointment; but they closed like 30 minutes ago :^/ I should have called earlier... T^T Well, I guess I'll call Monday or Tuesday. Monday is MLK Jr. Day, I think, so they may or may not be open! ;v; This tooth growing is really painful... So I hope I can get seen soon.

Random miscellaneous updates...

I've been playing a LOT of Harvest Moon. It's really fun! I enjoy the game quite a bit. But because of this, I've been neglecting AC:NL and AC:NH... :"D What can I say? Harvest Moon is preeeetty addicting! ^^

I stayed up all night and am seriously regretting it now. It’s 4:27pm now. Hopefully night time comes quickly so I can go to bed.

I’m buying a bunch of new clothes because I’m hoping to get a part time job through a vocational rehabilitation program, and all my clothes are very old and worn out. So I need to look a little more presentable and feel better about my appearance.

I’m getting back on top of cleaning tomorrow and throughout the weekend. I have been slacking a lot recently with that.

I’ve eaten fairly well today. But lack of sleep generally causes me to be more likely to make really bad food decisions. I’m trying to avoid that because I want to lose weight and be healthier. I’ve just been drinking water whenever I get cravings between mealtimes.

I asked my care manager if she knows of any local volunteer opportunities. I would like to volunteer a couple times this year. I think it would be good to get out of my apartment and do something productive.

I decided I am going to actively try to stop picking the skin around my nails. I have struggled with this for years, and on one of my fingers it has gotten really bad to the point where I think I gave myself eczema because the skin on side of my finger is very dry and rough. To help myself stop I bought a bunch of random fidget toys that my one therapist recommended to me years ago. I am hoping it works and I can help heal myself and my skin.
