I normally like posts so people get an alert when I reply (could there be a way of creating an alert for when someone quotes you in a forum? I'm just soooo bad at checking back on threads and the lack of forum notices is really frustrating)

ANYWAY

I just found out that I've been disliking posts instead of liking them! Argh! I just click on the like button and it automatically goes to a thumbs down (1) - how do I make it a thumbs up (1) ???

P.S. if I've disliked one of your posts in the past I'm so sorry I didn't mean it T_T

When you shows you a thumbs down, you've actually liked a post; it just shows the thumbs down to tell you "click this button if you want to unlike this post."

literally this? why is there no quote notification?? its really obnoxious. every forum should have a quote notification option. this is the only forum ive ever been on that doesnt.

Kinda same tbh, but I can see why they don't do that seeing how easily that could create a flame war or the likes.

imo dislike buttons are a little passive aggressive. its not like this is a forum where when something is liked the poster gets rewards or the post goes to the top of the page or something, its just a little acknowledgement of appreciation for what the person said. a dislike button would just incite useless passive aggressive expression of hate. i think if you disliked a post you shouldnt be given the chance to be passive aggressive about it- you should figure out how to respectably express your opinion and respond to the post in question instead of just disliking it and calling it a day. it encourages discussion to not have a dislike button, and though that can lead to a flame war, a flame war will be reported, posters will be punished, and people will learn to be more respectable and contained, or eventually get banned. with a dislike button, itd just be negativity without reason, and the op wouldnt really have learned anything about why what they said was disliked/negatively received, but you dont need an explanation for positive reception, so the like button is harmless. im personally against a dislike button for those reasons.

I really wish they had notifications for when someone quotes you. It would be so much easier than having to scroll through threads to check if someone has actually replied to you or not.

i wish they would add a dislike button.

I can kind of see why they don't, can you imagine some of the discussions in brewsters and how it would go if somebody starting pressing dislike on somebody else's post ;)
Some people aren't ready for that kind of thing ;) and I guess it can be seen as a bit negative.
