Locke & Key. Undoubtedly one of the best things I've ever read. Do me a favor, and imagine this:
You're in a vacation cottage with your father, mother and two siblings. While you and your siblings were out by the pond, hanging out, two men knock at your cottage door. When you return from the pond, you see that your father was shot in the head, and your mother was raped. After recuperating, your mother and siblings decide to move in an estate related to your late father, called the Keyhouse, located in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. Then suddenly, supernatural events ensue.
The story is fantastic, as it balances drama and supernatural events well. The characters are amazing, the art is great and the universe itself is awesome. The series itself has this way of making you crave more. As in, if you bought them in single issues instead of trade paperback, you'd be so engrossed in the story that when you reach the end, you'd be frustrated and excited at the same time. Frustrated because the issue is over (the series is godly when it comes to cliffhangers) and excited because you know that ****'s going to go down next issue.
If you have the money, go get it. The trade paperback is $25. So, you need about $75 to catch up. Not bad for 3 books with at least 200 pages per book. Also, the series is on-going. The next arc begins next month, and I cannot wait. If you don't have the money, you can wait until Fall 2011, for FOX has adapted the series into a TV show.
Here's a preview of one of the issues:
