Lost items considered trash?

I got a letter from the hha that says I have trash in my first floor main room and the only thing it can be is the lost item I have on the table(everything else is normal furniture). I don't care about the hha but this surprises me. Why would this be considered trash?

Anything that is "dropped" instead of "placed" is considered trash unfortunately.
