So a few days ago, the new mobile game Mario Kart Tour came out and I wanted to know who of you
playing the game and what's your opinion about it. While I'm not planning to play the game, as I'm
not such a big fan of mobile games in general and also prefer more to play games such as Mario Kart
on a bigger screen, I check here and there some news about it, just out of curiosity, as I also saw lots
of people the past days complaining about the microtransaction costs for certain things and how much
of a sort of scam they are.

Otherwise, part of me just hopes that now since Pauline is playable in Mario Kart Tour that she will also
be available in Mario Kart 9 (if there will be one in the future).

I downloaded the game but I didn’t play very much. I like the graphics but the controls feel weird to me.

Skip it. Unless you don't care about completing every track and challenge in the game, or you like spending money. The game is designed to force you to buy microtransactions. You will reach a certain point during each tour that if you don't have the recommended character and, in some cases, the recommended kart and glider, you will NOT be able to receive enough Grand Stars needed to progress through the tour and complete all the cups.

I'm pretty much stuck at a point where unless I buy more premium currency, which I flat out refuse to do (I used up all the free currency I had and can only get enough to open another loot box every other day), I will not be able to complete the tour before the two weeks are up.

The game was designed this way, on purpose, to make sure that people have no choice but to use the loot box system or just play til they can't progress and stop playing til the next tour starts up. This is essentially, Nintendo's EA Moment. Not worth the download in my honest opinion. Best to wait for the next official console/handheld installment of the game.

And I'm sure Pauline will make the roster in a future game. I feel like Odyssey brought her back from the brink of obscurity. So that's one good thing I can say about her inclusion in Tour.

Like I mentioned, I didn't planned to get the game anyway since I don't like mobile games and only
check out news about it out of curiosity, so I will definitely skip it. But yikes, I didn't know that it's
THAT bad with the whole microtransactions. May I asked how much you need to pay to coming at
least a bit forward in the game? I heard that you have to pay to even use 200cc, which just sucks
when you think about it that said 200cc is free in MK 8 Deluxe.

Also you're right, she has now bigger chances to make it into the roster than before. I sure hope
it will not take so long for a new MK on console.

I would say that...But I don't recall even EA sinking so low as to do P2W/loot boxes AND a subscription for a single game, let alone a mobile game (correct me if I'm wrong)

At least a saving grace is that it's only Nintendo's crappy phone games that they're doing this with. It's still scummy, manipulative, and overall awful but at least we've [yet] to see this in one of their full priced games...Who knows whether they'll do that.

Strange that a company usually so protective over their IP's is willing to drag IP's through the mud with trash like this.

Yeah, I think I?m done with MKT. Not a fan of mobile games and even less of a fan for P2W and gacha mechanics. Plus I have MK8D.

I haven't spent anything and was able to complete all the cups without issue. However, you are right that if you do not spend any money, you will reach a point where it will be impossible to fully complete certain cups with 5 stars. You'll also be unable to rank anywhere decently on the leaderboards because there's such a massive score gap between those who spent money and those who did not.

As someone who has completed all the cups, I also say skip it unless you're just that bored. You're not missing anything by skipping this game. There is some potential for a mobile Mario Kart game buried in the game, but this one isn't it. The characters are nice, but the best ones are buried behind low drops and/or subscription rewards.

Nintendo really mess't this game up. idk maybe they wanted a quick cash grab and didnt want to make a good MK game so that people wouldn't leave their switches.

My sister has it but for me, pffffft. No way am I downloading that on my phone. I’ve watched a few videos about it and I’ve gotten the impression that it is designed to make you pay up after progressing for some time (it’s obvious for mobile games but absolutely disgusting from Nintendo themselves). Also, what’s the point of calling it Mario Kart if the base game doesn’t even start out with him? And don’t even get me started with Luigi... This game is so wrong on so many ways, this must be Nintendo’s lowest point here in the mobile market. Plus, it makes me fear that it’s giving people bad impressions of Mario and Nintendo in general.

I'm enjoying it, and I haven't spent a penny. They need to add some Wii tracks, though.

I haven't downloaded it but hearing that it has heavy micro transactions sucks. I loved Mario Kart Wii and would love to see it on mobile but I guess it won't happen.

I downloaded it and played it a few times. I've never really been a fan of playing games on my phone but this mario kart was kinda the worst. I already have mario kart 8 deluxe, and I'm not going to pay more money just to get ahead when in my opinion it's more fun just to play on the switch that's portable in the first place. I've spent a few bucks on pokemon go and pocket camp, and that was probably only like 10 bucks combined. I don't want to play a "free" game that makes it impossible to get further unless you pay.

I both like and hate it. The graphics are amazing for a phone game, and I loive the character roster, it's getting fuller and fuller. I also like the alternate versions of the characters such as kimono peach or jazz (musician?? i forgot) mario. I don't like the controls at all. They're very hard to master, especially the drift. I tend to "over-take" my turns so I always loose one or two places. Thanks god we don't actually fall in the void that easily cuz else I would've deleted the app immediatly. I also don't like the whole lootbox aspects of the game, and how the "best character for this course" influences the game, it gets really hard to win if you don't have the correct character and that's frustrating. It's also quite hard to get 1st place sometimes, I know the game is supposed to be challenging but I think that's a bit too much. Overall the game could've been excellent, but Nintendo's appeal for money kinda ruined it, I guess.

I like the game?? I play it during school lol, but honestly a lot of us do. It seems like everyone is competing to be the best player- and when multiplayer comes out, it's "over" for everyone.
I've gotten used to how the drift works even though it took some time. The only thing is that it is somewhat hard to get gems, and the tiers really kick my butt. Honestly though, a lot of people only downloaded it for multiplayer (playing with friends of your choice), and I feel as if that should've been the main priority when the game was released.

diddy kong pack for ?38.99... LOL... that's for a super character you can look for every day in the shop for 3000 coins which isn't much at all, one quick ticket which isn't really a benefit unless you're incredibly impatient, and 90 rubies. i've done 30ish summons (f2p) and i've gotten two high ends - a glider and a car. since a featured high-end item is a 1% chance, with 18 summons chances are you're not going to get anything. even if you did get what you wanted they're not going to be useful on every track of the game - on most of them they'll probably be sub-par because the game is designed that way. high end characters, karts and gliders can be found in the shop as well - it's expensive but it's doable. gacha games are designed to be tempting to spend ur dosh on but among it's many failures it also managed to fail at emulating that temptation because of how obvious it already is as a waste of money. i don't think impressionable babies will even fall for this one

it's fun to pass the time but like everyone said it's very expensive. $8 a month for the gold pass is crazy but im getting by just fine not spending anything

This is all very unfortunate news I am reading. I thought the game was supposed to be better then the last game they released for Mario. Sounds like it's just any other mobile game trying to get money. Why on earth would I spend money on Mario cart. Mario cart is basically the same no matter what version and for what system you have it for. If I really wanna play it, I will use my 3Ds or wii. I might try it to try it but I probably won't keep it long.

thanks to this thread I just remembered to cancel my gold pass subscription trial!! I set a reminder for myself to do it in like 2 hours but I just decided to do it now. I just play it to pass time at school... i hope multiplayer comes out soon because this game takes up so much storage in my phone im thisclose to deleting it
