Considering the whole pricing situation for the Switch 2 and the individual games, in combination with the Trump Administration's global tariffs that were implemented on Wednesday afternoon which have thrown the stock market into free fall and the economic system into turmoil, I don't know if or when I might get the Switch 2 itself, much less the game. Switch 2 pre-orders in the US have been postponed and the previously stated price is bound to be increased to account for the tariffs. General cost of living in the US is going to increase as well due to those tariffs and their effects on global business and trade, so a pricey new console might just not be justifiable.
If I do get them eventually, though, Mario Kart World looks fun.
I'm glad that they added the Penguin as a playable character since penguins are my favorite animals and, while I'm not a platforming game person and don't have much mainline Mario experience, I have fond memories of Super Mario 64 with those penguins. The other newly added racers like Moo Moo are cool too.
The alternate costume feature is neat and I loved that refined gentleman King Boo that they showed off, haha.
If it is indeed the case, I'm not sure how I feel about the karts being streamlined and not having miscellaneous kart parts so you can assemble different builds. On one hand it's good for me since I'd rather not have to figure out what all the stats mean and try to balance things and end up having to follow a narrow meta. On the other hand, assembling karts or bikes out of those miscellaneous parts is kind of fun customization. It might've been nice if they kept the parts without the stat stuff tied in, but eh. If it evens things out a bit more then I think it's a good compromise.
