I wasnt looking when all of a sudden auto save feature turned on... this was during when someone else was moving onto the island (another human being).. I'd like to turn it off.. I have pretty bad ocd and would like to be able to not save rather than reset the whole game sometimes
I am pretty sure that New Horizons does not allow you to turn Auto Save off and it is always on from the moment you start the game. Really though, there should be little to no reason to restart the game if you make a bad decision because you can terraform or move people's houses/shops if you decide you don't like the spots as well as you can send villagers packing with amiibo cards or through the old method of waiting them out. Really no decision in this game is permanent other than the mouths of the river and the location of the Town Hall. Hope this puts some of your worries at ease!
Yeah unfortunately it's on and stays on, like Rox says though in terms of island affairs you're pretty much set, you can tweak pretty much everything except the resident services, river mouths and the boulders along the beaches - and they're determined right at the beginning of the game before you even get on the island
