In various threads I have seen people say that they want to be mayor again in AC Switch, or that they'd prefer something difference. I thought I'd make a thread to see once and for all which is the preferred option.

Personally, I do not want to be the mayor again. I want that to remain a New Leaf thing, or it won't be special anymore. I'm sure Nintendo will find other ways to allow us the customization options we had as mayor.

I say yes, unless they have a different idea up their sleeve that still enables us the same power over customizing the town and setting ordinances, etc. If I am suddenly no longer mayor AND I've lost those privileges, I'd be very disappointed.

If we continue being mayor, then I say it’s going to be done on purpose this time.

I'd rather be an interior/exterior designer than the mayor again. I really miss Tortimer being the mayor. They could have kept him the same age over time like everybody else seems to, he didn't have to retire. At the start of New Leaf you get a letter from a person who was supposed to be the new mayor at the start of the game. Maybe they'll show up. I'm just so sick of feeling so important to the town, I just want to be a normal resident again.

I don't know if we should be Mayor this time around, or else it might feel like it's trying to be New Leaf. But we should definitely be trusted enough by the Mayor to be able to suggest things. I don't mind if we're Mayor again, but I'm undecided if we should be.

that's a rly nice idea!! and we could perhaps have our own little store/office or something, i think it would be rly cute to have a job.

I would honestly prefer it? Or atleast to have similar powers from new leaf just because I love the town customization aspect of new leaf, it'd seem weird to just give this rando who moved in these powers when they're not a person of importance. Unless they come up with something new, it'd be kind of sad to basically be downgraded privileges in the new game.

I like being the mayor. Customizing my town and making it different from the cookie-cutter towns we've had before has been a real joy for me.

I agree with this, I miss Tortimer as mayor and I prefer being a normal villager!

I don't mind either way, as long as we have a say in what the town looks like. Going by the trailer with Nook in his HHD office, I think it's likely we'll have a role more similar to that of HHD, as an interior/exterior designer.

Well, creativity sparks me as a Mayor. I loved being a major and making my town how I wanted. To just be a basic villager would really be a step back after new leaf. I find the town aspect a lot more fun than the home decorating aspect. I'm assuming they'll keep their formula since Happy Home Designer was not as popular as NL.

I'm going to vote yes in that I want to continue having the powers that come with being mayor. That being said, it honestly doesn't matter whether you are called the mayor or not. What matters is being able to customize your town. Being mayor is just an easy justification as to why you have so much power.

Personally I enjoy the thought of being mayor, so even if I could retain my powers either way, I would still vote yes.

Honestly I want Tortimer back or Isabelle. She basically runs the town anyways.

I think it would be better if we were the Town Designer hired by the mayor. That's pretty much the gist of what our "mayoral" powers in New Leaf are.

I wouldn't mind being the mayor again but they should definitely expand on the feature.

I'd probably say yes because I really liked it! It really felt like I was having an impact on the city and I was so frustrated when Tortimer was the mayor!!! (like I couldn't get behind the counter!!!)
But I mean if Nintendo comes up with an amazing idea then I'd happily leave my spot as the town's mayor.

No, I'm good with working for Nook. ;D

Not necessarily but I just hope we still have access to things like pwps and ordinances so the game wouldn't feel like a downgrade.

still praying no mayor doesn't equal isabelle being gone in ac switch.

I don't really want to be mayor again. I wouldn't be upset or anything if we are mayors again, though. I would just rather portray another villager in the town without responsibility. I hope PWP's return though and we can still choose which ones we want to build and where to place them. I think it would be really cute if Isabelle was mayor.

It doesn't really matter to me. I just want to be able to customize - preferably even more than we can do in NL.

I?d like for there to be an office where different staff have different roles, kinda like the office in HHD, but ultimately we make the decisions whether our title is still called mayor or not. Maybe one staff can be the one you talk to to determine which villager moves in and where (Digby?). Maybe another can be someone you talk to for opening village communications, etc. (kinda like the guild office/multiplayer clerks in fantasy life - maybe porter or rover). Isabelle can be for PWPs and ordinances and Lottie can be for designing public buildings? (I really wish we have the option of designing the inside of our town buildings lol). I just want other NPCs to feel more ?important? and to feel like we?re working on the town together rather than me just bossing Isabelle around.
