this just kinda nitpicky but i wish the grass was actual full shapes like the other games instead of just generic grass texture with shape patches

it gave it a charm

who else with me

100%

As of now it just looks like a cheap frosted cake from the grocery store xD

I think it's pretty neat looking. It's a bit more subtle and I think it works. I always thought that City Folk looked a bit too busy and that's probably because everything had weird contrasting shapes. I get that some people like it but I prefer the new style.

They probably give the grass an updated texture when it's near the release date. Don't worry, I think it looks too much 'my sims' at this point too.

I think it would look really bad if it was full shape. The other games had lots of dirt patches to break it up the grass but this came doesnt seem to have those.

I hope the grass will get a little more texture eventually, though I doubt it. The triangle shapes are kind of a classic and I understand some people not liking them being reduced to just small patches. It doesn't bother me that much especially after placing (dirt) paths, but I do hope both the grass and the sand will get more detail in the final game so it doesn't look as bright and flat.

Oh yeah there aren't many dirt patches indeed I didn't even really notice that until you pointed it out.

It would look a bit messy to me if the grass would have shapes all over it imo

I noticed in the trailer that the triangular spots do show up in spots very low key. I prefer this because the textured grass really did seem busy in past games looking back on it. I like how it only shows up a tiny bit for that animal crossing flare

Keep in mind that this isn’t the final product.

Keep in mind that games rarely change in any major way in the last year of development. It's possible, but it doesn't happen all that often. Only Nintendo game recently that made a significant change in its visuals was Luigi's Mansion 3 at this E3 presentation.

I see this argument a lot but it makes no sense, Animal Crossing: New Leaf underwent some changes but keep in mind that the version of the game they showed in 2011 was still being built. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is nearing completion and only small tweaks will be made.

Nintendo games often finish development up to three months before release so that would mean the game only has around 6 months of active development left. Of course game development may continue to deliver updates later on but it's unreasonable to expect design changes post-release.

It's possible but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I love the grass. I hope they leave it how it is honestly.

I like both types actually. Sure, the old type of grass gave us nostalgia, but I'm guessing since this is a new version they're already going big by straying from the town theme, so might as well change the way it looks a little bit too. The graphics are very nice though.

I really love the new grass. It feels more unique and fresh, than just the same old patterned grass we had in previous games. I don't know, it's just really cute? I love that they kept some of the old style of it, but I'm also extremely pleased that they made it look new and interesting. There's just something about the patches of patterned grass that makes me very happy. I mean, it's a new game with new style, so it really makes sense. I feel like they're paying homage to the past games with the little patches of patterned grass, but also reaching for "new horizons" by throwing in a lot of cute, plain grass. I love it. :'D

it is a little itty bitty bit nitpicky but honestly? i don't mind that much! there are still noticeable patches here and there. plus i feel like those triangle patterns will clash horribly wth a lot of furniture and make the ground look too "busy" if theyre any more prominent than they are now.

The grass kinda looks like fondant, doesn't it? However, when I have the brightness down on whichever device I watch trailers on I can see faint shapes. We've still got 9 months until release, so they're polishing the game and reading feedback on the trailer and how the game looks. I promise you, the game won't look quite as plastic at release. It'll be a great game no matter what, so I'm not that upset. At least we're getting a game next year, unlike some other franchises.

I think the grass looks just fine! I like how it's more fuller and no dirt patches to be seen. Even seeing the patterns like the triangles here and there all scattered about was really neat. Hopefully we will have all three grass patterns and not just the triangles. I would love to see the circles in the summer or stars in the winter time. Those were my favorite. :)

I think they will fix this during the refining stage just like they did with the trees in new leaf.

I couldn't agree more! Tbh, everything already looks great to me and I wouldn't mind if they just left the graphics as it looked in the trailer.

I think it looks fine. The weeds, however, oh man I'm gonna be picking them all.

With the patches of triangles I actually think it looks really nice. If there weren't any at all I would be a bit upset, but the patches are perfectly fine with me.
