Is anybody going to be attending a midnight release if your local store is offering it?

Honestly, I've never really bothered with them. For various reasons, though most stores in my area don't really do midnight releases, anyways.

1. My city is.. not very safe at night.
2. Buses aren't active after 10PM. Closest store to me that would potentially do a midnight release is an hour and a half walk away. Refer to #1.
3. I never really have to worry about any midnight releases causing a store to 'sell out', so waiting and getting a good night's rest is more beneficial for me.

I pre-ordered from Best Buy and unfortunately it seems they aren't doing their version of a midnight release for New Horizons (what Best Buy does instead of midnight releases is allow you to pick it up an hour before closing on the night before a game releases, so in my case it'd be between 8 and 9PM). I'm pretty disappointed, because they are doing it for Doom Eternal and it would be great to pick New Horizons up at 8. But I'm assuming it's something on Nintendo's end that's causing them not to do it for NH.

I’m going to digital download it so I’ll probably be playing it around midnight

I pre-ordered and pre-installed my didital copy and will be playing the minute it is available in my area! <3

I have an 8AM shift the morning it comes out so I really want to not stay up until midnight to play it (pre-ordered digitally and pre-installed) but knowing me I'll likely not be able to sleep anyway!! So probably haha

No way, I would never go out that late at night just so I can go to the game store to pick up the game, go back to my house safely, then not be able to play it because i'll be too tired and play it later in the morning. I'd rather do it the safe way.

If my gamestop has a midnight release I'll go, but when pokemon came out a few months ago the gamestop I preordered at was supposed to have a midnight release so I drove over there and it was closed. So this time I'll probably call the day before to double check if I can pick it up at midnight.

I ordered a copy that’s being shipped, so no. In general, Animal Crossing doesn’t seem like a great game to get at midnight anyway. Outside of the initial tutorial, a lot of the town tends to be shut down at that time (even though it’s actually my favorite time to play games normally).

I haven’t heard of any midnight releases recently, but I’ve never been to one for a game. I’ve been to a few movie and book midnight releases, but with most Nintendo titles coming out on Fridays, I usually figure I’ll start them once I get home Friday evening at the earliest.

Sadly, my area does not offer midnight releases unless it is a HUGE game (Ex: GTA, Call of Duty, etc.)
But I preordered ACNH digitally, so I'll be taking a nap before it releases and then playing at midnight!

isnt that better than midnight???

It is better. But they aren't doing it. I guess I was a bit unclear, when I said "their version of a midnight release" I just meant that Best Buy does the 8-9PM release instead of doing midnight releases. And they are not doing the 8-9PM release for NH.

I'll be playing it at 12a EST while located in California...does that count?

I?ve never been to a midnight release. I?d imagine if I did go to one I?d get the game, come home and be too tired to play.

If I do go and purchase a game in-store, I like to be energised and feel fresh. For me that?s mostly in the morning.

I’m either going to go to a midnight release or download digitally.

Haven’t quite decided yet.

I am! My Walmart is open 24/7. I?ve gone there at midnight before (not for games though). Plus they also have that store discount for the game. I won?t play it at midnight, but I want to be able to wake up on the 20th and be able to start playing (not have to wake up and pickup in store).

If EbGames does the late night release I'll pick it up than. I live on the West Coast so I'll be able to pick it up at 9pm.

I don't think there will be a midnight release but Nintendo might okay it with the Doom gaming getting released. Sometimes Nintendo gives the okay just before the release date. A couple of times they waited 2 weeks before the game got released.
Plan on checking with the store on March 15th.

I do have the digital copy for the 2nd Switch but want to start the first island on the cartridge.
