Missing character houses in dream towns??

I visited a dream town that had 8 characters. Only 4 had houses. The other four players were walking around and I was able to speak to each of them, but when I checked the map, it showed that their homes were at resident services. I've seen this on two other occasions. The other towns each had one character with no house, and it too showed it on the map at resident services.

I find this to be so strange. Has anyone else seen this, and does anyone know what's going on?

I believe if you create characters but never place tents for them, they will ‘live’ at residence services.

I never thought of that. I wonder why players would choose to do that?

Hmm thats weird. I have 8 users myself on my main island and I never knew that was a thing. I guess maybe because they made them recently that they haven't gotten a chance to figure out where to put the tent on their island.

I actually did it for one of my characters. I had 4 characters that I placed houses for. However, the map looked weird and uneven without adding another player. I didn’t have space for a house , so I added the last player but didn’t build a tent. I like that the map looks even though


On the maps, if you have 2, 5 , or 8 characters, it looks even. If you have any other number, it’s lopsided. I don’t really know why others do it, but the un-evenness drives me crazy.

I admit when I went to my dream address for the first time on my 2nd island and I saw my users in swimsuits I was just like "why in the world is this a thing?" Thats when I discovered that wand outfits you have on your users don't carry over. Also it is strange to see them walking all over the place and if you didn't give them a catchphrase they just say "Welcome" they are like robots.
