My boyfriend and I are considering moving from FL to Georgia, since his sister is offering a room rent free and he has a job offer up there.
Before we do anything, I'm curious as to what steps we need to take before moving. This is our first time leaving the state without parents so it's a bit overwhelming to think about.
Please feel free to leave advice as well as your own experiences about moving out of state. ^^

youve provided like no information..are you a homeowner now? any of you guys in education? currently already have jobs in florida?

Work is important. How do you two intend to support yourselves? Where are you gonna live/rent?

I also moved a state over from Mississippi to Alabama this past summer. It was hard, especially because I did this right before my senior year of high school, but I love it here around Huntsville unlike how I felt about the Jackson area.
My situation wasn't quite the same as yours because I moved with my parents because my dad lost his old job in MS, but I have to second what piichinu said and that more information would help us. I realize our situations are very different from each other but how well-situated are you and your boyfriend are in Florida?

thins to find out:

--whether you will be required to change your drivers license, and when?
--you will probably need different auto insurance coverage
--when and how to change your voter registration
--what is the tax situation and how will it impact your budget? (GA has a state income tax so that will take a bite out of income; what about state/county/city sales taxes, is it more or less than where you live now?)
--may need to open a new bank account if your bank doesnt have branches in georgia
--if you do move you may want to go the USPS and fill out the change of address forms so they forward your mail
--they have legit winters there-- start looking around for winter clothes on sale while its out of season so that youre ready when winter rolls around
--other than that, figure out your new go to spots for pizza, chinese takeout, etc :p
