I remember this discussion happening in discord a while back, but I was wondering if you guys have any expectations of the music in game

Would you like music bought back and recycled?
Updated?
Or completely new?

Similarly as far as i know (i havent played ALL the games) the older games used to have more upbeat music compared to new leaf- correct me if I'm wrong.

Would you like it a bit more upbeat? Or do you like the relaxing side of new leaf

Feel free to share examples and stuff of what you would like as I'm sure there is remixes and fan made tracks out there!

I don't really have an opinion on what the music should sound like, but I think it'd be cool to have some choice. In one of the Pok?mon remakes, there was an item you could get that would play the original game's soundtrack - something like that, that could let you listen to the hourly music from one of the previous games instead, or maybe being able to choose which music plays from the Town Hall, assuming we're mayor again, would be a nice way to implement it, and give you another customization option.

I think there should be a completely new soundtrack (excluding things like K.K. songs), because if you keep the old soundtrack it feels less like a new game. However, as I mentioned in another thread, I wouldn't mind something like a "Retro Day" or "Retro Week" where, for a limited amount of time, the soundtrack switches to that from a previous game. You could even have the villagers say something like "This music really takes me back!" as a sign of acknowledgement.

I honestly play with my sound off the majority of the time because I'm either watching TV or listening to podcasts while I play. The only in-game music I care about is the KK songs because I like to have them in certain rooms, even if I can't hear them. I'm weird like that. I know the background music is gorgeous and amazing, but I just don't listen to it.

From what I remember, I enjoyed both the old AC music and the new, but I think I would love to hear some new music in the AC Switch game. You know, to keep things fresh. :)

New.

Newnewnewnewnewnew

Everything to be new. New hourly music, new holiday songs and not just updated mixes from the Gamecube game. I want new compositions all around.

I think it would be nice to have new music, but I?m okay either way. Animal crossing is one of the only games I play with the sound/music on, but I would also like to be able to have move choice in what?s being played in the background.

I want the wild world/city folk title theme back but I doubt they'll do that.

I'm sure it will be new soundtracks for the hourly music but I hope they bring back 1 PM from animal crossing gamecube.

An option to play whatever music you want (new or old) would be great, but I really hope Nintendo doesn't decide to pull a City Folk and reuse New Leaf's music, just like how they reused Wild World's music in City Folk.
(Referring to this without any options in where you choose the songs, of course)

I've only ever played New Leaf so I really like the music there. But I heard a song from an old game that had a meowing sound and I really liked that! So if they add more unique cutesy stuff like that, I'd be happy for it.

Everything but the New Leaf music, it sucked. Wild World and Gamecube music is so good please Nintendo bring them back.

Not quite sure to be honest. I'm not setting up any expectations for disappointment. As Burumun said, it would be nice to play music from previous games. Or something like Mario Odyssey where you can play any music anywhere at any given situation. Imagine playing Retail music while getting chased by a tarantula. XD

EVERYTHING in this game best be completely new given how long it has been. There's no excuse for anything less than that now.

I'd definitely like to see a return to music more like the first three games and less like New Leaf, but that's just me. I can see why some folks prefer the calmer and more relaxing tunes too.

I love that idea of giving the option to use previous games' music as an option for the hourly tunes, would be a fun nostalgia feature.

All new. It’s been all new music each installment and we need this to continue.

That's not true. City Folk almost completely recycled Wild World's music. That's why it's a consideration that it could happen again, although I highly doubt it.

New music all around first off. Love the New Leaf music but honestly I want stuff with real instruments. I'd also like a Jukebox to let you switch to the old music/listen to it while you're at the jukebox. I remember somebody saying something about an MP3-player so maybe if you wanted to listen to old music that would be your best friend/

New, and better, even better than what they already have 🤪 or an option to switch it to older versions, which will never happen

you say this like the wild world/city folk soundtracks aren't relaxing

also, I'd be alright with this. though idk why you're randomly excluding doubutsu no mori e+

Of course I want new music, and of course I want it to be better than New Leaf. But I also desperately want the option to switch the hourly soundtrack to older games' soundtracks.

I would be a-okay if I never had to hear the Wild World hourly music again. Not only were the compositions complete garbage, there was no variance in instruments used between the songs. Each hourly theme, save for maybe 2 or 3, sounded way too similar to the previous song and it really made the game (Wild World) feel even more lifeless than it already did.

New Leaf was a definite step up in terms of quality uniqueness, but it still wasn't N64 levels of quality.
