I'm getting closer to the 100-entry mark. I am at blog entry #60. Although I'm getting my blog done later in a year than I did in LBPC, I still blogged faster.

For this month, the bonus stories in my blog checkpoints will be about my political positions, the eras of Disney, and writing a good review. I can't talk all about them in one entry, so I will space them apart. My fact entries will be about the facts of the seasons, interesting math theories, and facts about grading.

My Political Positions:

The 2014 elections are over. I am actually happy about how the election turned out this year. Despite the Republicans ruining their chances of winning this year after the government shutdown of 2013, the Democrats are becoming more unfavorable. After all these scandals Obama was involved in (Benghazi, IRS, NSA, Prisoner Swap etc) and his bad politics (such as Obamacare), his approval rating was low. The job losses, Ebola outbreak, and ISIS are some major issues going on, and the Democrats are low on approval rating as well. Even California is turning red while Texas isn't turning blue anytime soon.

For the Texas elections, Wendy Davis did well with campaigning last year, but she ultimately lost. So the Republican rule of Texas still lives on, but after 14 years of being in office, Rick Perry is leaving. Here's a tip on winning a debate. Do not focus on the opponent's weaknesses or attack the opponent. Focus on your strengths.

Anyhow, I will talk about what I believe in based on the current controversies. Obamacare, socialism, and political correctness are the three issues I take extremely seriously. I will emphasize more on those as I talk about my stand. Abortion, homosexuality, and immigration have my ambivalent views. I will be emphasizing on those as well. The rest I will share my opinions on, but not talk too much. Oh, and another thing. You can't read my political positions on the mobile site. It can only be done through the desktop version.

As I am a Republican, you wouldn't be surprised that I am pro-life. In my personal views, human life begins at conception, as terminating a pregnancy is considered murder. I wouldn't even be okay with abortion on the first trimester. And here's why - it's not much the trimesters that matter. It's the reasons behind the abortions. I am okay with first trimester abortions in cases of rape and incest as well as the second and third trimesters if the pregnancy is very dangerous. But when it comes to getting away with having a child (like they're not ready to take care of kids, they think having kids will disrupt education or jobs, or they don't want to have children at all), then that's where I am against it by all means.

I am against collecting others' taxes to fund on abortions for reasons of birth control and I also oppose the contraceptive mandate Hobby Lobby fought against earlier this year. If Hobby Lobby is allowed to not provide the four contraceptives that cause an abortion, then I think all businesses should be allowed to not provide any form of contraception. It's not much that they should be illegal. It's that the employers shouldn't be forced into buying them.

Marriage is a complicated union. I believe it's the union of one man, one woman, and from the same parent religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islam etc). Marriage is a religious festival, and according to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. However, the government should not be allowed to ban same-sex marriage. I know it's a sin, but everybody sins, so the laws against gay marriage are obsolete. If you believe it's right to have DOMA in constitution, then I bet you would think it's right to punish people for telling jokes in general. This is how serious DOMA and Proposition 8 are. So I do believe it's the union of one man and one woman, but just because I don't believe in same-sex marriage doesn't mean nobody else does. Also, gays shouldn't be discriminated anywhere for their sexuality.

For a while, homosexuals were hated in America. In fact, for the longest time in history, America was friendly to only white men who were both straight and born in the US. Now we are a melting pot that should be friendly. If we should respect people regardless of race, religion, or sex, then we should respect others for sexuality.

I am very ambivalent on this. It's not that I'm interested into Mexican culture (food, music, architecture etc). It's that it's hard to pick the right side. The legals are fine. It's the illegals I have trouble with choosing my stand. We all know that some are harmful to society when they go for welfare, drug trade, or anything else bad for society. But some are beneficial for society as well. They do well with yard work, cleaning, and other things. While we help them out by paying them above minimum wage so they can have a good living, they're helping us by volunteering. So I'm half and half on this, but I'm probably leaning towards allowing them. And Mexico isn't the only place that we get illegal immigrants from.

Now this is one issue I take extremely seriously. Socialized medicine is bad for society. The government should stay out of healthcare. I know it's expensive and needs to be affordable, but it shouldn't be socialized. People should have insurance, but they shouldn't be forced to have insurance.

The reasons why I am strictly opposed to Obamacare and universal healthcare are:

  • Doctors have maximum wages under universal healthcare. This means they would try working as little as possible, which causes a long waiting line in healthcare.
  • The government makes decisions on healthcare. They even make some operations illegal when they are vital.
  • The contraceptive mandate Hobby Lobby challenged against.
  • The employer insurance mandate (where employers are required to pay for insurance for all full-time employees if they have over 50 full-time employees working).
  • The calorie-count requirement (where restaurants are required to have nutrition facts on the public menu inside the restaurant, as well as fast food drive-thru boards.
  • And many more limits and restrictions formed by Obamacare.

As I am a Republican, I believe we should have a free-market economy. In fact, people should be free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't harm others. The only restrictions in businesses that should be enforced are child labor laws, anti-discrimination laws, anti-smoking laws, worker safety laws, and increased job capacity. Racial quotas, higher minimum wages, business restrictions Obamacare has enforced, and ridiculous business restrictions are not tolerable and shouldn't be enforced.

Lower taxes, less government funding, and less government are all better for America. If I have a choice between raising taxes, increase funding on welfare, or expand government power, I would rather raise taxes than do the other to choices.

Although this isn't an issue to vote on, it has been more ridiculous, especially since Obama's election. People should use their common sense, but it has gone too far. If majority supremacy is unacceptable, then it's just as unacceptable to take away power or freedom from the rich, Christians, white people, and native-born Americans while letting the others have more power than the majorities. The censorship of some words on standardized testing in NYC, the suspension of the kids on Cinco de Mayo for wearing American flag shirts, the firing of the cop for calling Trayvon Martin a "thug" on Facebook, and the declaration of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to be "racist" are some good examples of how far political correctness went. If one thing is only offensive to a small population or not even remotely offensive, then it shouldn't be censored. I'm not trying to sound offensive here, but we don't need to go too far.

Here are the other positions I have. The ones I haven't listed are the ones I don't know enough about or the ones I don't care too much about:

  • I am against gun control.
  • I am pro-death penalty.
  • Teaching evolution in schools should be allowed.
  • I oppose the war on terror.
  • I oppose legalization of Marijuana.
  • I support solar and wind energy.
  • I support recycling.
  • I support Voter ID laws.
  • I support Stand-your-Ground laws.
  • I support TSA, but oppose extra screening in general.
  • I am anti-censorship.
  • I support right-to-work laws and oppose labor unions.

Now you know more about me and my political life. I didn't want to talk about them when I first joined because that isn't good first impressions. But since the election was nearby, I decided to share some information. But at least I'm not at any extreme on all issues.
