My entire 300 hour island is gone and I’m crying :(

Guys... 300 hours I spent on my island.
I absolutely loved my island, I had every dreamy, every furniture item, over 10 m bells saved up... and it’s all gone.

Today I upgraded from a switch lite to a switch ironically cause I finally saved up to get the equipment to record my island and make a YouTube video about it as it’s something I’ve always wanted to. I transferred my islands and factory reset, and it all looked like it was working but for some reason it crashed and my whole island is GONE.

I have to restart and I have no clue what to do. I feel so sad some kind words or something would be great right now to be honest!

While it sucks now, I think of it this way: you now have thee chance to redesign your island, and build upon parts that you think could maybe be improved. Or maybe try making new areas!

I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you, but try to be positive! You can definitely remake the island of your dreams, just like before

Thank you! I guess that's true. It's going to be a big pain in the butt to get all my furniture items again and my villagers but maybe I can make a cooler island than before! We'll see

I'm so sorry hun Did you have the backup feature enabled at all? Nintendo used to offer a free restoration in cases like these prior to the implementation of that feature so I'm not sure if they still do it, but it may be worth reaching out to them as soon as you can and seeing if they can help you.

It's okay, you aren't the first one to have this happen to you. I've seen a few users who have spoken about losing their island one way or another.

And as for the furniture, I wouldn't fret. There are definitely lovely people on this forum who can help with your catalog and such

do you think its really gone, or can you call Nintendo customer support? maybe they can retrieve an island back up for you or something. if you do have to restart your island though, I have a bunch of extra DIYs I can gift you plus some other extra materials and other stuff if you want!

Can I suggest you to open a thread on the Airport Section listing the furniture items you had, so people who have them can either donate them to you or at least allow you to catalog them?

I don't think it's greedy at all. I recall something similar happening with another user a few months ago and people helped them rebuild from scratch. Why can't we help you too?

Make sure you completely exhaust other options before restarting, just in case. I remember a few months back that someone fully powered off their switch and once they turned it back on their data came back. If that doesn't work, do contact Nintendo first to see if they can do anything to help you, it seems like it's been happening pretty often, people losing data when transferring to a new switch.

If there's absolutely nothing they can do, then you would have to start from scratch again.
There's no harm in asking for help though, there's plenty willing to help out however they can. ^^

If you had/have the Nintendo Switch online thing, I believe it automatically makes a backup of your island that you're able to transfer onto a new Switch under the right circumstances. Talking to Nintendo about it, as others have suggested, is probably a good thing to try, just in case you might be able to rescue your island.

totally agree and all you need is the new serial number of your actual switch and they can send you the save date of your island by mail I think. someone did that but yeah you need the Nintendo switch online unfortunately, it makes a backup everyday normally.

Did you not have cloud saves?

Nintendo will be able to let you download your cloud save to the new Switch. It's very easy too.

I'm sorry that happened to you.
Take it as an opportunity to create another beautiful island with new fun memories. When I started my second town I didn't think id love it as much as my first but it ended up becoming my main because I knew more about the game and was able to plan ahead for a better island.
It's still a really rough thing, if you need fruits or even some nmt let me know!

when you call them, tell them that you lost your data during the transfer and they will ask you what is the serial number of your new switch (it is a way to prove that you wanted to transfer your save data and not recover it to "cheat" in some way, i know it is strange but someone did it and said that the serial number of your new switch you just got is required), then they will send you an email to show you how to recover your save ^^
