My first UTAU. Aria Violet VCV

First UTAU and Soundcloud
So the reason I've been away from the forums is because besides working on school stuff and I have been hard at work on my very first UTAU. What's UTAU? Well you can check more about it on the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utau but is basically is vocaloid only in UTAU you can create your own instead of using already created ones.
If you want to learn yourself I can teach you but what I basically did was record myself saying a lot of japanese words then I had to work on them with UTAU. This is very time consuming and tiring so only try it if you have some time to spare. You won't get the results you want for like days XD trust me.
SO anyway I created many things for my first UTAU. First was the voicebank that comes with the recordings and that people can use if they want.
Then I created a soundcloud for me and my UTAU's. You can check the songs my UTAU already covered here

For now Aria only sings in japanese but she will be able to sing in english later (still on the works).

Need an opinion!
So I want an opinion on something and that's why I am posting here mainly. I uploaded this cover to soundcloud

and have doubts. Does the lower pitch voice sound like a boy or a girl? I appreciate your opinion. Thank you!


Need voice providers
I need someone to voice my characters for UTAU. Why don’t I use my voice? Well my voice is already set on another character and yes I also tried to change the pitch but it doesn’t sound how I want her to sound.

Oh hey, another UTAU user! I'm pushing through my fears to post this because I'm always happy to help someone with singing synths

First off I wanna say, great job on your fist utau, especially with it being a VCV! Most first UTAUs I see are CV, so I can tell you put a lot of effort into Aria~

The lower voice does sound like a boy in some places, but in others it sounds a bit off, mostly in the lower notes. They sound fine for the most part, but in the 'la la la' parts they get this tone that sounds like it's pushing outside of the vocal's range. For the main verse parts, they do sound fine, although they're more raspy than Aria. This makes me think it could be Aria w/gender factor (a lot of vocals with +gen have these qualities) or maybe even her without gen singing in a lower octave.

If they are their own utau and not a pitch of Aria, I can't really help other than suggesting that you might wanna find one that can reach the low notes better, but only if that's what you're going for. I can see you don't have much help with recordings at the moment so it's not really that big of a problem if it is +gen. I hope you get offers soon, and if you have any questions, I'm more than willing to help! I'm not an expert, but I can try (can't help with recording/oto though)

I also do hope that none of this came off the wrong way; I get super anxious when talking in threads tbh it's kinda why I never leave my art thread

:0 An UTAU user on the TBT forums. I was not expecting that XD I'm so glad you gained the courage to reply I appreciate it. I actually had worked on underloids first and did simple cv for them but at the time I didn't know what I was doing lol but they sounded good anyway. Now with the VCV bank I learned so much by myself. Seriously what a noob I was when I was doing underloids XD
Thanks for the opinion I appreciate a good critic it didn't came the wrong way at all.
I am currently working on another vcv for another female character with a lower voice than aria. I hope I can genderbend that one better because I don't like the genderbend aria much sometimes. She does sound ok in some songs I didn't publish yet but others not so much.

I've been working with utau for a while and I still haven't made any voicebanks because I'm too lazy lol Maybe if I finally figure out how to record one without a ton of background noise that'd be great (my computer is downstairs so there's always people talking and walking around)

Another tip I can add for the gender bend is, maybe play around with some other flags? There's a whole list of flags you can find online and tbh I don't use them very often... I don't even know what some of them do, but a common flag I always see is Y0B0 or something like that. Pretty much just plug in different letters and numbers and see what you like! Not all the letters do something though so yeah, look up a list.

I'm totally gonna go download Aria and play around with her for a little; she sounds super nice!

I had been working with underloids as I told you. Only recently I got a microphone and used it to record at night (when everyone at my house is a sleep) and is silent outside and I got pretty good result. So yeah I hope one day to hear a voicebank from you! That would be wonderful! Is not about being lazy I think. The process is very time consuming and I do get bored of it XD you have to really want it. To get to the end.
I didn't know about flags! Time to type a few things on the internet hehe.
