My Nookazon Experience

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I agree there absolutely needs to be a messaging feature through the site itself, it’s so hard to contact people and you can wait a long time for a trade. Even just having to use a separate service as well as the website is annoying to me, especially when someone isn’t in the Nookazon server and has to send a friend request to even communicate.
Allowing reviews to be edited was definitely an oversight, while I understand someone may make a mistake or something and need to immediately fix it, maybe they shouldn’t be able to after a certain amount of time has passed?

There’s been an updated folks! As expected the user has edited their review once again and downgraded me to one star... all while being condescending. Mods still have yet to reach out to me about my initial report. Good thing I have proof this time. ;)

My friends rave about how great Nookazon is all the time so I decided to try it, but was left feeling really overwhelmed and confused by the site and the set-up. It took me a bit to figure out how to make offers and the communication system isn’t the best. And since I have no feedback or anything like I have here, my offers were ignored or denied. Sometimes I wish I had the patience for it because there’s lots of cool stuff on there, but I prefer just using here or posting in FB groups.

That trader sounds miserable. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with them and I really hope the mods reach out to you to fix all this because that’s just not fair.

I'm happy sticking with tbt. As a longtime user, I've done hundreds of trades and can't recall any bad experiences. Everyone here has been great to me, so I don't feel the need to chance it.

In general, TBT has a more positive culture and a higher degree of user accountability ( likely because of the feedback system and prohibition of alts) than anywhere else I've seen. I'm glad so many sites exist now, and it's really nice to see more people taking an interest in AC, but here's all I really need, and I don't trade anywhere else. The only exception for me is Turnip Exchange- I use it to host and have had great experiences.

Yeah I agree with you there, Nookazon is okay but much more risky, not to mention you will find rude people much faster on there. I've bought I think 5 times for fish bait and DIYs, and theyve all been fast and mostly good. I'll also use the website sometimes to find people after lower tier villagers so I can give for free and they are always appreciative ^^ Selling wise however I've been more active in the nookazon discord (far more of a problem, especially since I mainly sold villagers there).

Now with selling I've had little issue, but like you I have been messed around abit time wise. I wrote in the ad that I wanted it to be fast and they took easy like 8 hours? I'll still hold but it is annoying, or that one time I messaged someone if they were still interested a couple hours after and they said they forgot. When I was helping someone out I was scammed out of 50nmt but nothing compared to what she lost. I really wouldn't recommend it unless you are the seller, but the one saving grace is the mods. They are absolutely amazing, responded so quickly and banned the user who scammed me off the server after I provided evidence, dont be afraid to contact them ♡

I would honestly use TBT almost everytime, the community here is an absolute treasure, probably the best place in any fandom I've ever experienced. I cant praise this website enough ^^

one of the issues i have about goddamn nookazon that you mentioned is that , for me i've had to wait HOURS to complete a trade because the buyer/seller is always busy doing god-knows-what.

i know people go stuff to do , but it's really annoying when you are trading a villager , yet the other person is BARELY doing the process of moving out a villager to have a free spot.

other times when it's about trading items/flowers/furniture/diys is not that bad , even then , some still take quite a lot of time.

I've bought and sold on Nookazon and I'm sorry to hear your bad experiences :( .

I think the reason why people aren't as professional/considerate is because they're new to the community. They're kind of just there to make a quick buck if that makes sense.? I do agree that they're a bit more hostile, I always try and include a bunch of smiley faces or exclamation points in my messages so they're nicer to me LOLLL. I feel like it breaks that barrier too.

Personally I don't really care about ratings. I've bought/sold a bunch on there but never ask anyone to rate me. The only times I've given/received one is when the person on the other end requests it. As long as they don't have a poor review that's given to them I don't mind if they don't have any ratings yet!

Hopefully that person gets a consequence. We don't stan petty people 😩

I’ve seen a lot of people discuss Nookazon on this site, and many are pretty skeptical about using it. I decided to give it a try, and here’s my experience for anyone who might be curious!

I’ve been using the site for about a week or so, with probably about 30 trades completed. Most I’ve been the seller for, and most involving villagers. Overall I’ve had a pretty positive experience with selling, while I’ve come across some rude people, I’ve never had anyone try to scam me. Most people are quick to arrive as well, or contact you in discord if there’s a problem. I did have someone offer to buy a villager from me though, and something came up so I asked if they could wait a bit. They seemed fine with it, so when I was ready I tried to contact them to see... that they blocked me? It was strange, but thankfully someone else grabbed the villager so it wasn’t horrible. If I didn’t have the time to find another buyer though, it could have been much worse.

When it comes to buying, however, I have had a few more negative experiences. While of course some people have been very sweet, others are rude and don’t seem to value your time. I’ve arrived to islands where I’ve had to wait a substantial amount of time for the trader to show up or communicate with me. This isn’t really that bad, I understand that mix ups can happen and multiple traders can show up at once on accident (I’ve been guilty of this as well). One particular person really makes me never want to buy on this site again, though. When I got to her island it was full of people, I think friends, and the trader was nowhere in sight. I said hello and who I was, no response. They were all just chatting amongst themselves. Tried again, and the trader finally made their way over and we completed the trade. The whole experience wasn’t great, and because of the time it took I had another trade that was lined up cancelled because the buyer was sick of waiting for me. I rated the user a 3/5 and explained my grievances, but still recommended them and thanked them for the trade. I had been giving people nothing but 5 stars, but how this person behaved really rubbed me the wrong way. She left me a 5 star review, thanking me for my patience. All said and done, right? Well, I guess she hadn’t seen my review yet, because I log in later to see she has lowered her score (3/5) and said I was impatient, and criticized my review! What? She literally lied just to get back at me for leaving her a positive, but not perfect review for a very legitimate reason. So I changed my review for her to one star and explained her terrible behavior. As someone who sells a lot, I’d never imagine doing what she did, if someone has a legit complaint and my score suffers, I keep it in mind and try to improve. If they outright lied (like she did) then I might take action.

Anyway, would I recommend Nookazon as a buyer and seller? Not really, if you can get something here, get it here. I’d only recommend Nookazon if you need to sell or buy something fast. While that one experience was my only bad one, the community on Nookazon is just a lot more hostile and rude in general. People on TBT are much nicer and understanding, and I feel there’s a lower tolerance for the type of behavior I experienced.
Nookazon is nothing to be scared of, but it’s not exactly something great, either.

Anyway, thanks for reading my ramblings! I hope some of you might find this helpful, or at least entertaining. I don’t think I’ll use Nookazon again, the whole site sort of feels like the Wild West haha.

Edit: I just noticed that user that gave me a lower score did it to another person for the same reason! When I went to leave a review, I saw they had a 4/5 from someone that was there with me on the island at the same time trying to trade as well. They pretty much just echoed my thoughts. The seller left them a 5/5 thanking them for their patience like they had done for me, at least that’s what I saw when I checked earlier. I just got curious and checked again, and the seller changed that buyer’s review to a lower score and said they were impatient suddenly as well! How petty!
I've tried it this week as well and I've got to agree with you on prefering this site to Nookazon. Definetely people are way more understanding, and the fact that you can't talk to them on Nookazon directly makes it feel a little distant, and if you have any kind of problem you are definitely losing the trade, when here people are patient and understanding. I also hate giving a dodo code to a buyer and not knowing if they have seen it, if they are online and just waiting and waiting for someone. Also the prices on some objects are way overpriced.

But if you're looking for one specific object it can be a good site to try

I just tried to use Nookazon today and honestly I vastly prefer TBT. I was searching for a Papa Bear. First off, it takes a bit to get used to the website as a first time visitor. Things don't really navigate the way you'd expect it so it's a little strange to get used to. After a bit I found some listings but the rumors about people overpricing are pretty accurate. I did find some people offering free cataloging but absolutely none of my offers got accepted. I decided to make a post here instead and immediately got a response and was able to catalog the bear for free (I did tip though!) The person was incredibly sweet too!

I also feel weird about sharing my discord and I've seen people get negative reviews for the which just kind of heightened my anxiety lol.
