Hey guys, the NES Classic is getting re-released this Friday finally. :) I never got the original run of this. Nintendo simply didn't make enough. I tried repeatedly to get it, but had no luck. I'm going to try to get one. I feel like I need it, to go with my SNES Classic.

Is anyone else here trying to get the new version (or did already, if in Europe)?

It's a shame that Best Buy Canada won't be stocking any NES Classic for online purchases, especially when there isn't a single large retailer near where I live due of my area's low population count. I was quick and resourceful enough to snag a total of 3 SNES Classics from that website alone, one at a time.

I'll have to rely on EB Games, Walmart and The Source to score one of the bad boys. The former finally accepts PayPal payment, so this should help placing order much quicker.
I might want to consider hitting at my local retro store almost as soon as it opens, just in case. I saw that they had a standalone NES Classic controller back in late 2016, so chances are they'll stock some NES Classic consoles pretty soon.

Yeah, the online thing is frustrating. Too many places aren't putting it up to order until close to time, if they do at all. I would prefer to order it online myself, just because I hate wasting time standing outside of stores before they open and then finding I can't get anything because they didn't get enough stock for the amount of people that showed up.

I managed to get 2 SNES Classics in-person when those came out. I was on vacation and got up stupidly early to buy them from a nearby Target. Since I had good luck with that, I might do go to Target again for the NES Classic. Or I might try Walmart to see what happens first. I've got a 24 hour Walmart pretty close to me.

I really prefer not to buy from Gamestop, because they always get more people in line than stock.

Well, I stand corrected!

Best Buy Canada recently tweeted that they'll be effectively restocking NES Classic on June 29th at 10 AM ET. Guess I'll try ordering one from the website, and then head out at my local game store.

Ooh! I gotta try to snag one online for my bf. He's been wanting one so hopefully I can grab him an early Christmas gift!!

Do you know how much they cost?

I already got my NES classic a year ago but it's great that people who missed out on it the first time around will be able to get one now.

I saw them in the backroom at work, was tempted to purchase one but honestly looking at it all, I doubt I would play it for long and I don't like the NES games enough to have it as a collectible.

The NES Classic is priced at $59.99 USD / $79.99 CAD.
As for the standalone NES Classic controller, it's $9.99 USD / $12.99 CAD.

Wow! And here I was expecting it to be over $100. That's great news!

So, the NES Classic controller showed up in The Source's website, and I managed to place an order for it after 8 minutes of its availability. That thing ran out of stock at around 20 minutes.

However, I'm a bit worried that it ends up being canceled. Someone at NowInStock website told us that the retailer is a bit slow on marking it out of stock after demand exceeds their allotment. At the time of writing, my order status is sitting at "In process", with an estimated delivery date of July 3rd.

Walmart Canada also suffer from slow availability refresh, according to my experience with an unsuccessful SNES Classic order. If NES Classic is up for longer than 5 minutes, odds are that ordering one afterwards will result you in a cancellation email arriving many days later. That one left me a sour taste in my mouth...

EDIT: Apparently, EB Games is going to put NES Classic for sale online tomorrow at midnight ET. Better prepare your account, or the opportunity will be gone in a flash!

More than a week has passed, and I've got quite a lot to say on how my NES Classic Edition hunt went. That one went much easier than the one for SNES Classic back in late 2017, especially given that I'm now experienced on online ordering.

First up is with EB Games Canada. The mini console was supposed to be available starting midnight of June 29th, yet began showing up around 20 minutes later. And even then, it didn't appear until I cleared my browser's cache. I then swiftly placed an order with success.
However, I accidentally skipped the box for telling the company it's a P.O. Box, and ended up handing the package to Purolator. Knowing that they won't deliver directly to this type of address, I had to call that courier service ASAP to use my home's address instead. The console finally arrived this morning, with its box being slightly damaged.

Next is Best Buy Canada, in which the console went live at 10 AM ET on June 29th. For me to see it, clearing the browser's cache didn't worked, so I resorted on switching the website language from French to English (can be done by switching browsers as well). I found the product's page, quickly landed an order, and received a shipment confirmation the same day.
The delivery all went smooth sailing, aside from the fact that Canada Post took two days off due of Canada's Day. The hardware greeted my home late in the morning of July 4th.

Once the second order was placed, I gave my local retro gaming store a visit, just in case they happen to anything pertaining to NES Classic Edition. And unfortunately, they haven't stocked any of these products.

On June 28th at around 8PM, The Source put the controller in their website. I rushed out to purchase the thing, while frantically filling out the information fields. In the following day, the accessory got shipped and reached at my nearest retailer in the afternoon of July 5th.

So, I managed to get a total of 2 NES Classic Edition Consoles, and one standalone controller through several retailer websites. I'll keep the hardware for myself, while the rest will be likely given to someone in my family tree. Although I could continue searching for another controller, I'm happy enough on how my entire quest turned out.

Hey TBT, would you mind showing the hidden page for me? I hate having a reply being out of sight!

Also, this looks interesting...

Thank you for the information/review. :D

I actually picked up the Switch port of the N. Sane Trilogy on re-release day for the NES classic. There was a line of people strictly there FOR the system xD And the people behind the counter looked at me funny when they heard I was there for a different reason.

This is way after the fact, but I managed to get mine shortly after midnight Thursday night/Friday morning right when it came out. I went to my local Walmart (which is a 24/7 one) and got there a few minutes after midnight. They had plenty of NES Classics and no one was there.

I haven't tracked down an extra controller yet, but I don't really have a high priority for that. The wire for them is too short and I need to buy some controller extenders. I'm using the SNES Classic's controllers with it right now, and even those are just barely long enough to play with.

I've already beat some games on it. I'm really loving this thing. While the NES was my first game console, I was so young and terrible at video games back then. We also only had a few games, so a lot of these I'm getting to play for the first time ever.

What hidden page? I’ve never heard of that until now.

Interesting information!

I'm getting mine today!! Super excited because I missed out on the original release and my gf has never played nes, so it's gonna be fun!!

What do you think of it so far? I think the NES Classic is a ton of fun. I'm really glad Nintendo re-released these.

I'm loving it so far!! I've been laying a lot of mario tbh haha, and i'm looking forward to trying classic games that i've never played before. It's also making me seriously consider getting the snes classic as well! :) my only complaint is the short controllers, but I can live with that!
