Super Sailor Senshi
This morning started out pretty rough but ended up being pretty good, minus some work related things. Anyway, I was walking around my town this morning, just digging up some fossils and grabbing some ore, when I noticed a lot more cicadas than usual. I had a slight headache because I had just woken up and I was still getting used to the 3D, so I decided to chase off some of the cicadas. (They normally don't annoy me like that. I actually love how they sound). After chasing a few off trees near the river, I noticed I had my net on me. Hoping I could score another bug catching badge from Phineas, I started to catch them instead of scare them.
This actually worked out in my favor way better than expected. The first cicada I caught was a walker cicada. (Reminds me of the Walkers from the TV show ).

It looks like the normal cicadas, the ones who are really loud, so I didn't think anything of it. When the encyclopedia prompt came up after the bug-pun description and size, I was a bit surprised. A new bug? Awesome!
Continuing the cicada catching trend, I ran into another cicada I hadn't caught yet, the giant cicada.

I was pretty surprised by this catch as well. I was certain I had caught all the cicada types but it turns out I was wrong. I was actually happy about that too!
After donating them to the museum, helping out a few villagers with furniture issues, and shopping around Main Street, I came across my field of Jacob's Ladders. (Pretty uncommon white bell-looking flowers that I had been stocking up for a while). As I about to sit down on the nearby metal bench, I saw a moving white bug on one of them. I quickly took up my silver net and snuck behind it, swiftly catching it. As my character showed what it was, I gasped happily seeing that it was an orchid mantis!

On the New Leaf wiki, it states that it's only found on the island but I found this one in my own town! I had only seen it once before on my garden of pink roses back in June so I was very happy to see it again and successfully catch it!
Grab your nets and get moving, fellow New Leaf players, cause apparently today is a good day for bug catching! <3
