Hi all. We have 2 switches and I feel like my first island was very rushed. I kept TT. All I cared about was to get 3 Stars so I could start terraforming etc. Didn't do much with my villagers. So no photos. Never got that many DIYs or nook miles etc. Never tried breeding flowers. You name it I made a joke out of the game haha. Starting brand new with the 2nd switch. Do you have any pointers? What to do. What not to do etc... TIA x

The first best pointer I can give, if you have 2 Switches, is to make a second character on your first island, pay off the getaway package, and buy waterscaping and landscaping permits. Then have them move to the 2nd Switch as the island rep. This way you will have terraforming on day one, and will have no need to try and get 3-star as fast as possible.

EDIT: If your island is already created on the 2nd Switch, you can move the secondary character from the first island to the second island as a secondary character. You'll just have to use that alt character for terraforming until your island rep unlocks it later on.

How do you move your second character to your second switch? I've obtained a 2nd switch. But would like a very natural look. I also thinking about not upgrading. I like the natural look of the museum tent and villager tent. And town hall i like also when it's dirt. Like in the beginning. But i do want to terraform and waterscape. How should i proceed?

Start the game with the player you wish to move.
On the main title screen, press "-", and then tell Tom Nook you want to move.

Start the game on the new Switch. At the starting airport scene, Timmy and Tommy ask something like "Who are you?". You have 2 choices
> I am new
> I am moving.

Choose I am moving. It will be pretty intuitive, and they should also rehash what I've already said about the first Switch.

To be safe, make sure the character you are moving has already purchased the permits for landscaping and waterscaping. I can't remember if these options show up at the Nook Stop before the Town Hall is built. Plus you won't have to worry about grinding the required miles after the move.

Thank you so much for clarifying this. But how does my 2nd switch know who my 2nd character is? For me to be able to play on 2nd switch, with new island, do i need my second profile to be linked with a new Nintendo profile? And do you also need a 2nd copy of the game?

No linking needed. The Switches will communicate with each other. As soon as you tell Tom Nook your moving, it will start scanning for a nearby Switch to accept the character. The second Switch, after saying you're moving in will start scanning for the other Switch. Once they have found each other, the migration process begins.

Yes, you need a second copy of the game as it will need to be running on both Switches.

EDIT: Depending on how it's done, maybe 1 copy could be used. I wasn't able to do it with one copy, but that's probably because I tried to start the island with a profile that didn't purchase the game. So with 1 copy you may only be able to do the move in as a secondary character

Remarkable...
Does my second character also have to be an already existing profile on the 2nd switch? And does my second profile also need an 2nd linked Nintendo account? And also a 2nd online membership?

I do have a 2nd copy of the game. And i'm willing to pay for a 2nd online membership. Because i want my main character to visit my 2nd island to bring stuff. My main character has lots of inventory space and large catalog. Is this possible you think?

It does not need to be linked, but there needs to be a profile on the Switch which will own the save data. It will become the owner as soon as you start the game as the profile and say "you're moving in". Since some of the features in the game require Nintendo Online, you will probably want to link it to a Nintendo ID.

I believe you only need to pay for a 2nd online membership if you plan on using them online both simultaneously. Otherwise, if you plan on playing online with 1 character at a time, you may be fine linking your main Nintendo ID with the Island Rep on the second Switch. However, I can't say whether sending mail between characters will work this way since you won't be able to make them "friends".
