Hello there I am new to playing ACNH. I have been playing pocket camp for about a month and NH for about 1.5 weeks. I have been progressing through all of the things Tom Nook has asked for and have upgraded my house to a two room (and about half paid off). I’m currently working on getting KK to my island for a concert. It says I need to raise my island rating. Not sure exactly what all I need to do. Also getting anxious to know what happens next and what I need to do to get more of everything (furniture, bells, visitors, etc.). Any advice about any of these issues or any other advice for an extreme newbie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time! 💜

You need a lot of bells to buy furniture goods, flowers, greenery, bridges, ect. to help you get a better island rating. The fastest way to make bells without cheats, hacks or time travel is to sell non-native fruits or pumpkins. These can sell for a pretty good amount and can help you rack up some bells. Regular fruit on your island won't make you as many bells compared to selling non-native fruit. Non-native fruit can be obtained by visiting a friend's island, going to a mystery island with nook miles tickets and your fake in-game mom will send you a letter containing a non-native fruit on your first day playing. You can buy pumpkins from Leif when he visits your island year round. Fruits grow every 3 days and you don't have to water them. Pumpkins grow every 3 days and you can max out the pumpkins per pumpkin plant by watering each day. (you don't have to water when it rains)

So I will give you the basics of what you need to know about the 5 star rating in this game. First things first you need to invite 10 villagers to your island, you must plant enough flowers, and of course making sure that your island has "Appealing Scenery" that means that you must place enough items on the island to make it more stand out. Also you must build enough bridges and inclines to increase the rating as well. Of course you would want to have enough "fencing" on your island since Isabelle really likes it when there are fences.

However, there are things you need to avoid to not get your star rating low. Do not have too many trees planted and make sure you don't have any items laying around on the ground. Isabelle will mention this when you talk to her at Resident Services when you want to see how your island rating is doing. Hope this helps out.

Save/gather as much supplies (wood, sticks, rocks, iron) as you can get your hands on. Nothing is more annoying than not being able to craft things because you're short materials.

This helps a ton! Thanks so much!!

Just enjoy the game and talk to Tom Nook. You'll figure things out!

That is part of the magic of your first game in a series. Everything is brand new to you and you'll never ever be able to get that experience back, so enjoy it!

Thanks so much! I’m gonna start adding more pumpkins right away!

I say this every time, but: Press B to run. Double tap A when crafting to craft faster.

This is very important for impatient people like me. My sister spent 3 months walking everywhere... :D

Thanks! I knew run, but did not know about the crafting. 👍👍👍

Do you have Nintendo Online? If so, I found that visiting other people's islands can help with furniture! Each game has a certain colour for each piece, and only Redd and balloons can give you other colours from what I remember. It can take a while to fill your catalog with the variants, so I recommend visiting other islands and checking out what's in their stores. Some people on this forum also offer giveaways and cataloging islands (grab an item, then drop it - you can purchase it at your own leisure)!

I haven't asked for a rating at all, but I do know a few tips. I personally am not a completionist, and just play my game mainly for the decorating. Which you don't have to follow any rule, and just add what you want :)

-I do have a few helpful tips! One, is you should max out the capacity amount you can carry. Since you'll be holding lots of items, and the more space, the better

-Carry around your Diy bench! Its a key componant to have in the game, since its used very often, I susgest carrying it around with you. Then you don't have to keep running back, and fourth.

-Get a garbage can! If ypur in desprete need of just getting rid of things you don't need, to make room. Then just having one lying around, or carrying one, is a good idea to do just that
--------
I have a few DIYs that I could give you, if your looking for inspiration to decorate your island. But you do need to have ten villagers,

You could also get some inspiration from watching videos, or visiting other people to see what they have done. Sometimes thats all you need is an idea, and your off with a sudden burst of inspiration.

But in general just keep enjoying the game, and you'll get that rating in no time :)

Can I go to random peoples islands or do I have to be friends through Nintendo Online?

Don't need to be friends! Just get someone's Dodo code. Some people open their islands up for everyone (I did, back when I hosted a giveaway), but some people will prefer to open it for certain people (especially since some anonymous users like to pick flowers and the like without permission). Most people are okay with you shopping, but I always tend to ask first unless they've already given everyone the go ahead :) Depending on who you visit, some people won't mind if you grab the fruits on their island, but that's one you definitely need to ask about first!

Thanks these are all great!! 💜

If you have any island plans I suggest you move your houses to the beach to save bells for later in the game! It helps save bells for later in the game. :)

I do this through Tom Nook and resident services correct?
