New to the game

I'm fairly new to the New Horizons game. I havent played animal crossing since I'm about 14 on my nintendo DS.

I'm navigating quickly enough through the game, but can someone please tell me how to speed up the dreadful process of collecting 30! Iron Nuggets, and how to get the recipe for a slingshot to get that damn present out of the sky

u can go on Nook Miles Ticket mystery island tours to hit rocks for iron. i find i get more iron on the tours than on my actual island. and i think the slingshot recipe comes from getting timmy & tommy's shop so u'll have to wait for that.
