New Villagers and Personalities

For new species I'd like ocean related villagers, like the octopus. Maybe a shark and/or whale villagers?

maybe komodo dragons would be cool? things like turtles would be nice also.
i think some villagers based off celtic, mayan, aztec, incan, iroquois, etc. folklore creatures would be neato

There are some great ideas in this thread!

I would love to see critters like ravens, other dog breeds like Shiba Inus and Collies, and cute little trash pandas (aka racoons).

There is no way that they aren't adding any new villagers. I don't think they will bring all the old ones back even though I want them to, but they probably will take a handful of old ones and bring them back like they did in New Leaf.

What I would love to see as new villagers are bats, foxes, raccoons, ferrets, pumas, some more
panda and ice bear like vilagers, female lions and something "exotic" like snakes or maybe even
sharks (I mean, if there octopuses as villagers, why not?). What I also want are "fluffy" villagers,
like, if you take a look at the cat villagers for example, they all have a "round" face/head, I want
cat villagers which have such hair parts in the face, like cartoon cats have most of the time. You
know, more body details. And not just cats, but also other villagers with fur.

As for new personalities, I really like the idea of a nerdy personality, but for both male and female
villagers. Shy villagers are also a nice idea in my opinion.

I definitely want more villagers and I am 100 % sure we are going to get them. It'd be a surprise (and not a good one) if they didn't add new villagers.

More than new species I want new personalities and for them to improve the old ones. At least in New Leaf grumpy and snooty villagers felt very... well, not grumpy and not snooty at times. I hope they bring some of the sass of the Gamecube times back.

Oh yes, we need the rude villagers back! At least make the cranky and snooty villagers rude again. To
be honest, I don't like how friendly and kind the villagers are in New Leaf, it feels like for me sometimes
that they are BFFs with you after you just talk with them once. Back then, it took some time till you
start to become friends with them. I really prefer how they acted back in the older games and also
hope that they improve the personalities.

Totally agreeing with you! I love NL, but that is one of my main complaints about the game. Everyone is just so nice to a point that the personalities feel a bit watered down, and that + the fact that everyone seems to like my player character right from the start makes it a little... well... boring to talk to some of them.
Though I think the whole friendship building aspect was never too fleshed out in Animal Crossing to begin with...
I'd love for them to work on that aspect and make building up a friendship with a villager more of a little quest or challenge.

It doesn't have to be / shouldn't be a super huge, frustrating struggle or anything, but I at least want the snooty and grumpy ones to be a bit suspicious/dismissive of me as a newbie for a little while. Then it'd be all the more rewarding once they warm up to you!
At the very least they need to give them more interesting dialogue. I remember the Gamecube AC villagers could be really mean sometimes - but in a funny way. In any case, having everyone want to be your best bud for life right off the bat can get boring. I'm sure they could find a way to make it more interesting without making it unenjoyable for younger players or players who just want to relax and have everyone be nice. ^^

And as weird as it sounds, I actually... like disliking some of my villagers. I had this peppy hippo in my GC town and she said the sassiest/meanest stuff to me sometimes. I had this weird love-hate-friendship with her, and while she definitely wasn't my favourite villager and I would often joke about wanting her to move out, she's also the first one that comes to mind when I think about the villagers I had on the GC. I'm actually kind of sad that she has not made it into the newer games.

I would love Simon Flessers 2006 Sushi Whale character to be in a game, but thats unlikely.

I think shark villagers would be pretty neat. You can have a hammer head looking one, a great white, Orca (even tho it's not technically a shark) and whale shark. There's quite a bit they can do with it.

How about Squid villagers? They could resemble the Octopi villagers, only their heads are a lot thinner.

I want all New Leaf/Welcome Amiibo villagers to return and enough new villagers that all species have enough members to make a single species town of them and for all species to have at least one member of each personality type. Also, micro and macro bat villagers!

I talked about them in detail years ago, but I'd really love to see a dreamer/capital R-Romantic type personality, possibly for males with a gothicish corresponding personality for females; shy and awkward or nerdy (doesn't matter which is which for male vs female) would be really cute as well!

it would be cool if there were more mythical creature villagers. but what animal crossing likes to do is just take normal animals and add weird color palletes to them lol

I don't think we're going to get many new villagers as their is already a lot. I just hope they don't lock those new welcome amiibo villagers behind those amiibo cards besides the ones that are Nintendo related like W. Link and Ganon. Those ones make sense to be amiibo locked.

As for personalities, I think they might bring over the personalities from Pocket Camp in replacement of the current set up. I don't know where this leaves cranky villagers though.
