I thought they'd have boy girl twins, like little twin stars hehe except maybe one could be lavender and the other wisteria!

Omigosh! That is a really great drawing! It makes me really want to start learning to draw Animal Crossing characters soo badly. I need to get back into drawing... ;-;

To be fair, we haven't seen all the new ones yet! I also like variety but going from the colours used on villagers in the past, they won't all be limited to pastel colours ☆
I'm looking forward to some darkling gothic and vibrant neon characters!

Cool concept though! I could see them making a spin-off themed around this, which would be a fantastic way to explore their individual stories!

Nice to know we'll be having some new villagers in this game. One of my favorite parts of New Leaf was getting to know all the new villagers in that game.

It's nice to here that there will be new characters added. I really like the little pig on the far left corner. My guess is she might be a relative to Joan?

I think if you've made your character so cutesy that they don't resemble their animal anymore, or don't really look like a real animal, you've gone too far.

That's my concern as well! Personally, I prefer villagers that actually resemble the animal they're based on. I'd prefer another "regular"-looking villager to one that looks too cutesy, with excessively bright color and huge eyes. But that's just my personal preference and I'm sure that most villagers will still look amazing.

To be fair, I've never really had much fondness for the town NPCs (the special characters common to every game) to begin with, and I think that's the reason why Nintendo's AC Amiibo gambit failed so hard and killed off the amiibo collection fad for Nintendo fans at large: Nintendo overestimated how much people like the town NPCs when really, people are attached to the villagers instead.

So while people may dislike some new town NPCs, I don't think most were super attached to the originals anyway. And as you said, there is still plenty of variety to villagers to satisfy everyone's preferences. It's what makes villager trading possible ? if someone doesn't want the villager you want, and someone wants the villager you don't want, then everyone can walk away happy! It's a good thing we don't all have the same taste

They are too low in quality for me to make a judgement ATM (picture quality), and the normal NPCs will possibly still be there

The red wolf looks like a mix of Freya, Soliel and Caroline.....I wasn't pushing for new critters BUT, I am really liking that design....

Aw I hadn't seen these yet! They look really nice! The red one looks like some sort of dragon-type species..? Or it could be a lizard like someone said The pastel coloured bear cub is so cute (third villager top row, from the left), I hope she moves to my island!

New horizons has brought me back to animal crossing after a long break, around 2 years probably since I last logged in here. I?ve been searching for a list of new villagers who are being added and came across this post
I think the blue goat and the villager to the left of him will be 2 I?ll be looking for
I started to collect amiibo cards some time ago, did a lot of trading on here too. In the end I decided to sell my collection and do things the way they were when I first started playing. I guess I?ll be back on the trading plaza when the game arrives to start my new village
