Nintendo's master plan, speculation

I started to think about this because what we have right now, is limited. You just get to a certain point and, that's it, no more real expansion, despite stuff missing. We even have assets to serve no real purpose, like the secret beach and especially pier.

But, we also we know Nintendo can update the game when they want, so time travellers can't skip to see future festivals. It seems Nintendo is trying to discourage time travel, and, it makes me wonder, whether or not this applies to other things they could update.

Imagine if there is so much more for us to see, but it's being held back, forcing patience, nullifying time travel, etc. But I think it's even bigger than that....

You see, we only have limited space on our island, so eventually, we'd run out of space for said updates. Unless that is, we could access more space, and that's where the pier comes into play.

See, in New Leaf, the pier had a boat, to take you to a Tortimer's island. Imagine if the same applied to this pier, as an update yet to be released. More islands, more space, all for the taking. With updates constantly to make use of this potential space.

Imagine, sailing the vast ocean to islands near and far, colonizing them all, till a vast empire of animal villagers exists, with all sort of things to look after them, and keep them entertained. A bigger, grander scale, than ever seen before. And all we would need, is the patience to wait for it, and the dedication to build it.

Animal Crossing, to the extreme. Opinions?

At this point, we can only dream! I believe Nintendo has shared a company opinion that they don't encourage time travel. In that case, most of us non-time travelers are still in tutorial mode on the game. Once more time has passed, I'm almost certain that they are going to update the game with more features. Maybe a museum expansion for scuba diving collected creatures?

I strongly believe there is going to be an upstairs to the museum. Currently there are stairs that go to... nothing? I think with their strong stance against TTing that they are taking the ability to update over time and running with it.

I actually love the idea that there is more to come in future updates. Animal Crossing is all about patience, so it makes sense.

I think they might be tied to the updates mentioned in the direct, for holidays and events.

I also love the idea the pier could be used for something in the future. Though I feel like we'll actually get more islands like Harv's we can visit using dodo airlines. Maybe we'll get a little port on the peer where we can get and customise our own boat and go sailing finding new islands......that could be cool...longshot maybe.

For me some more public services would be awesome, I need some coffee in the morning so the Roost needs to come back. Also feel our islands could do with a little restaurant sometime. There is plenty of space for more public services down the road....so we'll see.

That's something I didn't know. Just stairs that go up? No basement? That is probably where Celeste will be in an observatory. If there no basement, maybe Brewster will have a seperate building to sell his coffee.

If not holding back secrets from miners and TT'ers, they maybe just held stuff back so we could have the game on March 20, rather than delaying it again, and they will continue to finish it.

I do feel the owning multiple island thing is far fetched though.

Probably the actual truth. I just wanted to speculate because of the potential this game could have, if you start to think about it.

I truly hope they're going to slow-roll these releases, because if this is the whole game, then I'm gonna be revisiting New Leaf far more than I anticipated...

I would just like to know before I spend months building up to what may end up being a major disappointment... They should inform the consumer whether the $60 they spent was on a completed game or not. I would be happy to wait for content, and I would be happy to not know what the content is or when it will release. Adds immersion, suspense. But I would just like an affirmation that something is on the... horizon.

The pier is there to get some rare fish, the private beach is just a cute little beach in the back of your island. But I still believe Nintendo will constantly update this game for a year at least :)

I do feel like that pier can have 2 purposes though. Like occasionally finding a boat docked there? Could still fish off it.

Right now, we can say much about NH because it is way too early. The game just started 5 days ago, players need time to get into the game and all we can do so far, are baby steps, which is completely okay aside some people who need to time travel and unlock everything on day one. But I believe that a lot of stuff will come. Will be good or bad? I don't know but time will tell.

i'm not sure if they'd do it because theyre against time travel, but i definitely think there will be updates in the future. everything just feels kinda stripped right now

In previous games though, you could time travel and find out everything. If only events can't be time travelled to, then the content found is extremely lacking compared to previous games (general content, not events). That is why I hope content is being hidden, because we need more than what we've seen.

I also think and hope we'll get more content released in updates and patched in later, not just holidays (maybe even added along with them?) They might even purposefully be keeping content away at the start to avoid it getting spoiled by TTers/dataminers - while I don't really think this is the best way to go about it (as people will instead just feel the game is incomplete) I guess I get why they'd do it this way
