Some info:
1) I already talked & convinced a Normal & Peppy villager to move in
2) Their houses are plotted
3) Third house isn't yet
4) I'm still choosing for a Lazy villager that I like, then suddenly, poof, I took another ticket & there's no lazy villager on it.

Which brings me to point #5....
Is it because for Lazy villagers are supposed to be sleeping now (my timezone) or because I plotted 2 house so the game is generating the lazy villager itself.

Ugh, I really wanted Punchy or at least someone I like!

I tried to go to the islands while I had empty plots 3x and got no villager each time. I have no idea how the islands work, I think it's bad luck on my part or something.

Oh interesting. Do you remember what time you visited? So far I have visited plenty of times, and the time I got no villager was night time (It occurred to me that Lazy villagers should be sleeping)

I'd try again but I don't wanna waste any more miles, I have enough materials :(

I'm starting to miss when you can pay for bells lmao

question, do villagers not show up on islands when you dont have land plotted?
i've purchased several tickets only to go to islands with no villagers on them..

they've always been showing up for me until last midnight. i've been refusing to plot a land because i'm picky with my 3rd villager so yeah, i've never plotted before i was able to ask villagers to move in.

My experience:

I went to Nook Islands, in separate visits, and invited Normal Nan and Lazy Erik to move to my island.

I later went to Nook Islands, in separate visits, and said no to both Peppy villagers I encountered.

I started the game Thursday night leading into Friday morning. (A new day arrives at 05:00 a.m. local time; I started playing just after midnight so, in the space of a few actual hours, I was able to experience the game’s first two days.)

Day #02 was the start of being able to use Dodo Airlines (DAL).

For me: Day #01 was Thursday. Day #02 was Friday. Day #03 was Saturday. Day #04 was Sunday.

Day #03 was when I was told by Tom Nook that I had three incoming villagers. I set up where to locate their tents and built their required interior and exterior items. After building them, and meeting those requirements (both interior and exterior), I found out for certain the identities of the incoming villagers. It turns out the game is giving me a Peppy anyway—Bonbon.

Day #04 was the move-in of Nan.

I am guessing Day #05 (Monday) will be the move-in of Erik.

I figure Day #06 (Tuesday) will be the move-in of Bonbon.

I am not TT’ing (at least not yet), so I am guessing there is an order: Starting villagers are a Jock and an Uchi. (I have Teddy and Katt.) They are followed by: 3) Normal; 4) Lazy; 5) Peppy.

The difference between “New Leaf” and “New Horizons” is the former did not allow one to the start the game (first five villagers) with an Uchi. Here, in “New Horizons,” it is required—and we arrive on our island with an Uchi.

I do not know the orders of Nos. 6 to 8. But, obviously, the Personalty Categories remaining are: Cranky, Snooty, and Smug. (I’m guessing No. 6 will be a male—so that Nos. 1 to 6 are an even 3-and-3 of males and females.)

I haven’t read enough on “New Horizons” from Bell Tree Forums. I think I came across, either here or elsewhere, that having the campsite is what makes it possible for us to scan in amiibo cards for villagers.

This is interesting.

oh thank you for your detailed reply, i appreciate it. i guess the game chose a lazy villager for me T_T
because i read that once there's no plots for villagers, there won't be any villagers on the islands and i think you can only get the remaining personalities via the campsite.

for me the order has been normal -> peppy -> lazy
how did you find out the game is giving you bonbon? after setting up the 3rd plot, and playing the next day?

i can't wait for the campsite. though, i need to read more about acnh as well. idek how adopting works this time around, or if it's the same as acnl.

On Day #02, I went to Nook Islands several times during that day.

After inviting Nan and Erik, I had myself set for Normal and Lazy villagers.

Then came the Peppy villagers being on Nook Islands. I said no to Truffles and Anabelle. I don’t remember, right now, if I went a third time (with an applicable Peppy appearing on the island).

Eventually, that given day of game-playing ended.

Day #03 arrived. I was told by Nook about three incoming villagers. (Since I did not invite a specific Peppy on that Day #02, on Nook Islands, I figure the design of the game requires that Villager Personality Category—and the random decision was Bonbon.)

After I set up their locations, and built their interior and exterior items, and met the requirements, I found out the identities of the incoming villagers. Now, the Plot/Tent Numbers were 1) Erik; 2) Bonbon; 3) Nan.

On Sunday, Day #04 of game-playing, I got Nan. Given the fact that I am writing and posting this at 03:30 a.m. local time (Eastern Time in the U.S.), I am about 90 minutes from the beginning of Day #05 and finding out whether Erik or Bonbon will be No. 4. (My guess is Erik. This would be to make one’s first four villagers being an even 2-and-2 of males and females.)

What I think happens on that Day #02 is visiting Nook Islands gives you a chance to invite any of the villagers you encounter. They are among the Villager Personality Categories of Normal, Lazy, and Peppy. For any you do not invite—you will get one of each anyway when Nook informs you of this on Day #03.

The game has to get rolling. So you get your five villagers in starters Jock and Uchi followed Normal, Lazy, and Peppy. No. 6 will either be the Cranky or Smug. (Perhaps a random encounter, on Nook Islands, will have one find both types—but, no doubt, males only.) And Nos. 7 and 8 cover the remaining male and female, Snooty.

i'm such a mess i got the game on 18th (the store where i pre-ordered sold it early) so it's my 6th day now and i only have 3 villagers on my island lmaoooo. the way i'm fussy with my villagers is lowkey driving me insane. i'm getting tired of the nook miles+ already. i'll just settle with whoever and work on my dreamies later, me thinks.

I use Nook Islands for anything I should bring back to my island (which I named ʻOhana, a Hawaiian term for Family).

My island has its native fruit Apple. (Dodo Airlines exterior is yellow. This is what I wanted. I got them on my first try.) The only luck I had in getting another fruit was with the Peach. I was also able to get Coconut. My other success has been at getting Bamboo (for use of building furniture). I took some fruit. I dug up some trees. I dug up planted flowers to bring back to my island. I obviously hit the rocks.

The game is new. So, I know it will be wise not to get overly excited and too tempted to want to rush things along.

I agree about the Dreamies. I have over 10 copies of “New Leaf.” You can see from my signature the towns I made public. So, I got to experience a lot of the villagers. My favorite is my avatar—Stitches. (He is in my original town, Applewin, which dates back to August 2013. Punchy is in my town Beauty.) So, I will eventually make that happen with ʻOhana. But, as for the rest, I am figuring to not try to overly control who I have. I look forward to other things—for example, the creativity of what I can do with the island.

From memory I’ve only invited 2 villagers other than starters to move onto my island. Will be interesting to see who the 3rd one is.

My theory is that when you unlock the placing of the tree villager houses they don’t spawn on islands anymore. I invited two, and when I went to an island to find my last one it was no one there. When I got back I noticed the sign by the new houses read sold. There I read that my last villager already was decided.

On Day #02 of game-playing is when I encountered villagers on Nook Islands. I probably went no more than five times.

I encountered Nan. (I invite her.)

Normal—check!

I encountered Zucker. (I did not invite him.)

I encountered Erik. (I did invite him.)

Lazy—check!

I encountered Truffles. (I did not invite her.)

I encountered Anabele. (I did not invite her.)

Day passed. Which means, for me, no check with a Peppy.

On Day #03, as I explained in my previous posts, I was informed of incoming villagers. So, I get assigned a random Peppy—Bonbon.

i think you're right, i'm done trying. i won't waste my miles anymore, i'll use it for something i haven't gotten yet. i'll just settle with whoever comes and deal with it later. waiting for the other personalities next and move on.

i think the reason for this is that the next personalities will only be available via the campsite, and they're not allowing us to have twice of the same personality yet.

I just started playing the game.

My No. 4 villager is, indeed, the Lazy deer Erik.

Yeah, after I plotted the 3 houses, I didn't get any more villagers in tours and I noticed that my plots said Sold. If you see that it says Sold in the plot, press a and it will tell you which villager will come. I didn't get a chance to invite anyone lol but I got Zucker which I like and Bianca and Molly which are okay at least.

I thiiiink it was anywhere from 1-4pm.. Today I have had better luck, found marina but passed her up. It seems super random. Right now im blowing all my miles in an attempt to get just one villager I love haha.

oh, so they are definitely NOT sleeping. my god, the amount of miles i've earned & spent for tickets. embarrassing haha.

you don't get any more villager spawns when you don't have the space to ask them to stay at your island. they'll come back again when you have the option to sell your land when talking to tom nook in the upgraded residential services (which means plotting a space for someone to join)

The game will randomise a Lazy villager for you, that’s what happened to me. I invited Merengue and Wendy, then Tom Nook asked me to place the 3 house construction sets. After building all 3 exterior/interior items, it said on one of the sets that Stitches was moving in and I didn’t meet or invite him, so it’s definitely randomised if you didn’t invite all 3 yourself.
