Nook Mile Achievements - are some overestimated?

I also have one piece left to complete my museum. It's that darn Wild Painting Right Half! Just the other day, it showed up at Redd's co-op, but of course it was the fake one, which I've already catalogued!
OMG! Same here! And of course I always buy it, hoping that if I get rid of it, the legit one may turn up, but no such luck.

I haven't even checked my nook mile achievements recently but the last time did I saw some of the achievements and thought to myself how am I gonna reach that. I can see what others mean by you wouldn't achieve them just by normal game play you would have to focus on getting that.

I definitely think some are just ridiculous but I haven't really worked towards them yet. I've just been playing and getting whatever I get passively. Only exception being cast master which suuucked but I eventually did get the last one.

i think you’ve explained my feelings better than i can tbh haha. i’ve been actively working on completing all nm achievements for about 2 years now, and while i’m having fun with it and only have 8 left to complete, i definitely agree that some of them are ridiculous. i’m especially having trouble with the deep-sea creatures and tool crafting ones. i only catch around 3-5 creatures whenever i go diving (which isn’t very often), so my progress with that one has been painfully slow, and i’ve still got just under 1,000 to catch before i’m done. and the only tools i craft nowadays are shovels and watering cans since i don’t need to fish or catch bugs anymore, so that one’s taking forever to complete as well, and i’m not even halfway done. 😩

i guess it gives me some incentive to keep playing, and i know i’ll feel accomplished af once i’m finally done... i just wish it wasn’t so tedious lol.

I restarted my island and I think that some of them are doable if you play the game slowly and not do a whole lot of trading online. Even the crazy craft 3000 furniture.

Like starting out without doing any sort of turnip trading, bells is really hard to come by. So you have to catch and a crazy number of fish and bugs if you start in a bad season that doesn't have a lot of expensive bugs like beetles and butterflies. Other than that, the easiest way to get a lot of bells quickly is to sell the hot items. The Wooden-block chest sells for a lot when it's the hot item and it takes 16 softwood to make one. And RNG is not nice with the wood drops so you have to constantly make tools.

The tools one I agree you have to work towards. Not buying tools from Nooks, not customizing them to repair the durability, and only crafting the flimsy versions so they break faster.

I guess I don't mind too much about the lofty/hard to get stamps because my main goal right now is to make my island look nice. I'm almost at the final stamp for total fish caught/ bugs caught and two stamps away for deep sea critters. I've basically given up on the KK stamp due to being super sporadic with the game and rarely playing while he's taking song requests. Same-ish for stretching and other once-a-day achievables.

I think I would rather have more stamps in between high goals rather than lower goals if that makes sense.

I'm getting to the end of my island design, have a full museum, and one of nearly every fish and bug model, most obtained without even trying, and crafted nearly every item in the game at least once, usually multiple times. I have enough bells to buy whatever I need in the game at this point, and the same can be said for nook miles as well.

But despite this, I'm still missing a few of the major nook mile achievements, namely - the ones for crafting furniture, catching bugs (getting close to finishing it), and, the one I'm furthest behind on: crafting tools. I know I don't have to complete them all, but it's always a great feeling to 100% a game.

I've really taken my time on ACNH, and used trading only when I can't access items on my own island. Yet I'm still massively behind with these ones. There's absolutely no point to me crafting the tools at all - I've allowed mine to break naturally whenever possible, yet I'm still around 1,500 tools short of the 3,000 crafted tools requirement. I don't really use a fishing rod anymore, outside of the occasional catch. Although I'm still catching bugs, there's no way I'll need all of those nets. The others I don't need either.

It just seems excessively high for the sake of time wasting - constantly shaking trees for branches, crafting one item at a time, etc. all for a tool you don't need and probably won't need by the time you've completed all of the others on the list. The crafting furniture one seems just as bad - repeatedly gathering items and crafting loads of the same items over and over again. I feel as though this should have been the DIY funiture, since there are more customization options than there are actual crafting options.

I'd have no problem doing these chores, if I still felt like I needed to, but at this stage, it feels as though certain elements, especially crafting, have been overestimated.

How does everyone else feel about it? Have some achievements been placed too high, or is it that other achievements are too low?

I do the daily achievements for the miles, as I like kapp'n tours, but long term mile accomplishments I now find myself only looking at once in a while. I figure one of these days I might take on the mission of completing them...after I finish getting the fish probably. To be more specific, after I catch the sneaky blue marlin. I really hope there's a recipe for that guy.....
