I have a few questions:
If you're a vig you can just kill anybody?
For vets what exactly does taking two hits mean?
Lastly 3rd party is orange right? Are they townies also and what
do they do?

sorry for being a noob oh

For Vigs you can attempt to kill any player in the game, yes.

For veterans, it means they can survive one kill attempt (not a lynch)

3rd party are neither town nor mafia. They often have their own win condition that may or may not be compatible with town/mafia win conditions. For example, serial killers must kill everyone else, so their win conditions are not compatible with town/mafia win conditions. Others such as survivors simply have to survive until the end of the game, so their win conditions are compatible with both town and mafia.

ahh okay,
so what exactly is a kill attempt? is that like a vote?
and why is it an attempt, who says if the person gets killed or not?

If you are a veteran, you are basically protected from your first shot. The kill attempt is when someone tries, and fails, to kill you.

There are a whole bunch of different ways to die and different ones feature depending on the game setup. As basic as it gets, you can be killed during the day during a lynch (where all players take a vote) or during the night, say by a mafia KP (kill point) or by an action shot from another player (sometimes called the vigilante role).

There are certain roles that protect you from being killed besides just the veteran. Doctors and such can protect a player during a night phase, hence if they protect the targeted player, the kill attempt will fail. It's probably easier to just go through one of the earlier games rules and then take a look through at all the roles that have been used since then.
