Old carpets? How do I get more....

I'm usually only able to get one or two. Is there anything that need to be done to get three so I can get a good carpet? My neighbors won't give them to me. Or is totally random?

im pretty sure its random..
most people get them, and then save them.
but i heard you dont ask when they're in a house?
but im not entirely sure about that one.

It is completely random whether you get carpets/wallpaper or not. You can get carpets/wallpaper from neighbors indoors and outdoors. If you save up three, and give them to Sahara at once, she gives you a rare exclusive carpet/wallpaper, that you can only receive via her.

I just ask my neighbours. Only, like, one gives it to me though. <_<

Make a second character, it will give you more carpets than usual.

I got four characters. That works out best.
