I'm not going to play New Horizons- probably for a long time. (This doesn't mean I will never get it, though.)

First, I'm not pleased with the Switch. Second, I'm not interested in New Horizons (I have no idea why). I love the simplicity of New Leaf, and for some reason, New Horizons isn't giving me the traditional Animal Crossing feelings yet. Third, since I just got New Leaf earlier in 2019 I'd rather stick with it for a while and grow my town/complete things.

Is there anyone who isn't going to play New Horizons when it first comes out?

The way things are going I probably won't get it either.

I worry about the saving function on the switch, and there are a few things I'm not sure of in the game, like autosave.

If it's a feature that I can't turn off, then I couldn't in all seriouness, enjoy the game.

I also feel as you do. That it doesn't have the feel of traditional AC games. Some change is good though.

One final thing I'll predict. I think friendship levels like in PC will be a thing.

Remember in the direct they said friendships would be more, or something?

For me, this would make the game too different from past games, and too much like PC.

I like the natural way the friendships grow, by writing, visiting, doing requests, but if it's like PC with 36? levels of friendship, this would make the game stale and rigid. Almost robotic. Forcing you to do requests to reach the next level to unlock something.

Supply and demand is what it would basically be.

I truly hope friendship levels are not a feature.
Friendships shouldn't be forced.

I'm still just waiting for the final product before deciding, as it is a lot of money to shell out.

A toss-up for me atm, but I’m leaning towards no, at least right when it comes out. I’ll watch a few YouTube series on it and base my decision off of that.

I love the switch, I love the look of new horizons, and I played NL to death in 2013 and 2014.

I am more than ready for NH and i will be playing it as soon as i can get my grubby lil hands on it.

I will get it (I have already pre-ordered it), but I don't judge anyone negatively for choosing not to buy it.

To me New Leaf didn't even feel like an animal crossing game at first and I hated the new mascot Isabelle. I thought the whole thing was off putting. Then I got into it and fell in love so I'm hoping that happens with the new game. So far it looks exciting but the franchise has come so far from what I'm used to. Sometimes it's hard to adjust. As for the switch, I like it but I don't love it. The library still leaves a lot to be desired.

So true, I thought the same thing when I saw the Splatoon trailer.

Well, I don't have a Switch so I won't be getting New Horizons. I'm not saying I'll never get it, but I don't play a lot of Nintendo games and I just recently bought a new Playstation 4, so right now I can't justify buying a Switch just to play one game.

I also just started up a new town in New Leaf this summer and I still have a long way to go to get it the way I want it and feel like I've 'completed' it.

So I'll keep up with the news, see how everyone else likes it, let them work out all the kinks, then I might end up getting a used Switch or Switch Lite later down the road and pick up the game. I'm always late to the party for things like this. :lemon:

What are you not pleased about regarding the Switch? I've had mine since April and I think it's wonderful.

What are you not pleased about regarding the Switch? I've had mine since April and I think it's wonderful.

Joycon drifting, terrible online services (which is improving), and terrible user interface which includes lack of themes and folders. Other than those listed, the switch is an amazing console with amazing exclusive games.

I get not being pleased with the Switch. I still don't get the hype surrounding it. The bad paid online service, the lack of Virtual Console, and most of the most impressive games it has to offer being games that originated on the Wii U or are late ports from other systems really water down the system for me.

Nevertheless, I very much plan on getting New Horizons. To me, the game looks fantastic. I stopped playing New Leaf shortly after it released, so I haven't played an AC in quite some time. This will undoubtedly be one of the games that defines the Switch for me one way or the other, since it just hasn't had a lot else for me. Hopefully it's not a City Folk (which really tanked my opinion of the Wii), BUT I can't see it being like that. This game looks very inspired and looks like it has a lot to offer. I look forward to it.

In my own personal opinion, I don't like the Switch for various reasons.

1. Based on research for the longest time- and the supported reviews of many users- I deemed the console of having a few issues concerning its build. Sliding joy-cons, a shorter battery life, and small storage space.

2. I also believe that the Switch's games and equipment (such as the extra joy-cons or the pro controller) are ridiculously priced for what you get. Even to get the added on storage space you have to pay to buy their upgraded memory card!

3. And lastly, I was very disappointed to find that Nintendo decided to switch- pun intended- to cartridges. I have so many beloved disc games that I still play to this day. I would have to leave all those behind or continue to use my Wii U despite the fact I would have just bought a new console. I would have ended up only buying a couple of Switch games anyway. There aren't many Switch games I'm interested in.

This isn't to say I don't think the Switch isn't a decent console. It's got some excellent pros, and I see why you'd love it. It's just not my thing. My cons outweigh what I view as pros. :)

Recently I played stardew valley with someone and we had to talk through discord. We shouldn't have to do that. :/ If I want to trade something on pokemon I have to talk to them through forums or something. Kinda ridiculous when I pay for online.

I want to get a Switch and ACNH. I'm probably not going to be able to afford to buy it on its release... I don't want to buy the Switch Lite but I was hoping to get an AC themed Switch if it's possible? It's going to take so much to save since it's so expensive but it's definitely a worthwhile investment as there are other games I want to play Like SMO, SSBU, SMK8D etc... Just have to save as much as I can ε-(?・ε・̥ˋ๑)

I agree that the Switch has its flaws and I also don't really want to support that online service rubbish. Plus, I really understand the things that make people nervous when thinking about NH. There are definitely some things about this game that are questionable, like the way they might include DLC or how the crafting aspect is going to be. These are issues that could possibly kill the fun of the game and stand out too much from the rest/tradition of the series.

I will buy it on day one nonetheless. Why, you ask? Because I played every Animal Crossing from day one since the Gamecube version and never once regretted it. The community is always so hyped and I just love the feeling of the first few days, when all the players in the world discover the game and share their achievements and milestones. I will definitely have the best time playing it offline and online every evening from March 20 on with my friends and trade and show what each of us has fished/catched/found. This will be such an amazing and exciting first week and first month into the game - and I would never trade it in, even if I end up not liking the game so much.

And if I'd give it time and wait a couple of weeks or even months for Gameplay videos and see if it's worth buying it, I'd miss this first time experience with all the other forum members and Animal Crossing fans around the world and that would kill me. :D

I will get it day one but I can understand the issues some people have with the game or the switch. For me it's not a big deal if I buy the game or not. I spent a lot of money on video games and AC is one of my favorit game series. The online service is one of the worst I know and I wouldn't get it if it wasn't for ACNH. But really 20 euros for a year won't hurt me. It's really cheap :)

The game itself is different than the others but I like it. I love to have more freedom in creativity. Also regarding the dlc: that's sadly a new trend like micro transactions but I came to terms with the dlcs.

All in all the game looks awesome, the switch is a nice console (not my favorit that would be the ps4) and I can't wait to get it ^^

I'm just going to go through this, listing my agreements and disagreements:

The build quality for the system and Joy-Con can be inconsistent, that is true.

The battery life, at least on the Switches with the newer processor than the old models, is absolutely fine in my opinion. It depends what you play, but it lasts longer than the original 3DS model (with a new battery) from my experience. Might end up more similar when compared with newer 3DS systems.

The internal storage will suffice unless you go buying AAA titles digitally.

I agree that some things feel overpriced. Especially the dock, should you ever need another for some reason. Add to the fact I feel the Pro Controller is required for a comfortable playing experience and things get expensive quickly.

Storage is cheap these days. You don't need a Nintendo-branded microSD card - just get the standard SanDisk ones (or any reputable brand, though SanDisk is usually best value) and be impressed at how far $10 will go. At least, I'm impressed how cheap the storage works out compared to the 2GB cards we were stuck with in the past! But see if you actually need a card first. I only have one in the system for transferring screenshots/videos, as I don't need the extra space for installing games.

Using discs in a portable system is a horrible idea. The end result is bulkiness, long load times and guzzled battery life. Because 12cm discs would be too large for the system, we'd be stuck with 8cm discs. Due to reduced storage capacity, even some first-party titles would require additional downloads. Sure, the PSP used UMD, but those days are over.

don't have a switch (yet?) so i won't be getting nh when it comes out but maybe someday... when i have money... idk it just looks really cute? but also i just bought my 3ds last year so i think it would be too soon for me to buy a new gaming console so i guess i'll just read everyone's thoughts on the game for now?

I personally enjoy the Switch, and with all its flaws. I still find enjoyment nonetheless, especially with the good quality of games that have been newly released or polished for the console. New Horizons, you're next!

I'm going to be getting it however I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy it. It has yet to jump out and grab me in the way previous Animal Crossing games have. I'm worried it's too much a world-builder and less a life sim now :( so i can understand not feeling like its a traditional AC game!
