I personally want to own every animal crossing game (aside from amiibo party because I'm not buying a Wii u for that) because animal crossing is a very important game series for me and always will be. I'm extremely excited to play the new game but I am a bit worried if it's too much like pocket camp, however I will only find out how good it is by playing it and I think I'm going to enjoy it either way, I hope it's as great as my expectations but its not hard to satisfy me honestly lol

Yeah after reading the topic about paid DLC I will not be getting it.

Yay! I’m not too interested either. I don’t really like the thought of having to spend about $120 for a Switch, and then another, idk, $20 for NH. I am just fine with New Leaf and I am completely satisfied by it. Just because it’s 2020? I don’t care. It’s 3D? I don’t care. Switch is taking over 3DS? We need to do something about this. 3DS is kind of loosing popularity, and they are making so many switch games and forgetting about the 3DS’! Please say I’m not the only one that’s saying to keep 3DS popular!

The only way I won't is if the game turns out to be a huge sell out, money grabbing junk heap. I want to pay for a FULL GAME, is that hard to ask? I don't want to buy the game and a week later have DLC that could have already been in the game. That would male me mad enough to not buy it.

Hold on, it's confirmed there will be paid DLC for it? What will the DLC include?

No it’s not confirmed.

I'm a little confused. How has the topic about paid DLC changed anything at all? The OP was just speculating and throwing a few thoughts out there. You've reacted as though it's a statement confirming paid DLC at some point in the future. John, I wouldn't let it dampen your enthusiasm for the game.

It's a little late for that.

Ruined the only thing I was looking forward to.

How has the unconfirmed potential DLC ruined it? I’d understand if it would ever be something that is necessary to continue playing the game, but DLC is optional...if it even happens.

If it's unconfirmed, that's good so far for me! I'm trying to keep my expectations low for this game so I won't overhype it and ruin it.

If you just got New Leaf, you'll definitely have a game to hold you over long before you jump to the Switch and New Horizons. It's my favorite 3DS game for sure, and I've poured 100s and 100s of hours into having fun with it.

With that said, I love the Switch for so many different reasons, and I am so excited to start over with New Horizons.

Not sure...I'm not getting it at release date, anyway. I'm excited, but I don't have a switch and don't know if a single game is good reason to buy one (yes there's some critically acclaimed games I'm ignoring, it'll save time and money)

I think the game looks amazing. The increased focus on customization worried me at first because ACNL felt much less lively (less dialogue, things to do) and it might be part of a growing trend. But the game looks so pretty I probably won't care much.
If not I'll stick with ACNL and occasionally WW. I just feel ACNL will be especially lonely. Nintendo is really good at building hype and instilling that "Fear of missing out" where I'm watching everyone post and play together with a game I don't have.

So I'm hoping all the ACNLers here will stick around.

I have had it pre-ordered from Amazon since last June.

In 2008 when City Folk came out, I was 60 years old and bought it two days after release (after watching my daughter play it on its release date). This was my first AC game and I played it every day for several hours. It got me through all the work stress I was experiencing in the years leading up to my retirement.

In 2013 when New Leaf came out, I was 65 years old and retired, and I got it on the day of release. I have played it for thousands of hours. I still play it almost every day.

Now, I am 71, almost 72, and for a while it seemed like they would never release another AC game! I am so glad that a new one will be available soon and I hope it is as much fun as the others. I already have a Switch but hardly ever use it. Still, I am sure I will like playing ACNH on it.

Right now I can't even imagine "ditching" ACNL, which I utterly adore; but I felt the same way about City Folk back in 2008 and yet I did indeed ditch it as soon as ACNL was released.

I don't know if I will get it right away, may wait to see what people think off it first

Still getting it. I got pretty tired of New Leaf (and also from Pocket Camp tbh), so it's time for something new.

I'm not going to play New Horizons- probably for a long time. (This doesn't mean I will never get it, though.)

First, I'm not pleased with the Switch. Second, I'm not interested in New Horizons (I have no idea why). I love the simplicity of New Leaf, and for some reason, New Horizons isn't giving me the traditional Animal Crossing feelings yet. Third, since I just got New Leaf earlier in 2019 I'd rather stick with it for a while and grow my town/complete things.

Is there anyone who isn't going to play New Horizons when it first comes out?

Based.

Im not getting New Horizons because I haven't finished City Folk yet.

Carole I just wanted to say you are my hero! I was 52 when I bought ACNL. It was the first AC game I played. I played non-stop for three straight years. As time went on though I played less and less. I do check in from time to time to clean up my town and check on my villagers.

I am now 60 years old. When Nintendo announced ACNH would be delayed until 2020, I’m pretty sure I went through the 7 stages of grief. I don’t know what the future holds, whether I will be fortunate enough to see another AC game. One thing I do know, I plan on playing ACNH until I can’t.

I see myself getting new horizons but I don't see myself playing this game in the long run unlike new leaf. I currently have 6 towns I would like to complete eventually. I do not like the feature of having another nintendo account just to create another character and buying another switch just to have another island... Too much of a hassle.

Thank you! Same here, I'll just keep playing it as long as I can. Meanwhile, for the next two months, I'll keep playing ACNL and Pocket Camp, and reading what few scraps of information we have so far on ACNH.

I am going to play at on may the 15th since i wl be busy with exams and my vacation will begin in may, i hop3 i don't miss out much :)
