OMG! A NEW PAPER MARIO GAME!

I think this should be the last paper mario for now, because they made enough already through out the years of 3ds times and Wii U times and others.

I’m actually excited for it? Paper Mario games never really appealed to me the same way the Mario and Luigi games did, but I might take the plunge again and try this game. Pretty sure I have TTYD, but I don’t know if I’m up to finding out where all my GC memory cards might have gone lol.

They make a new Paper Mario game every four years (with a little exception) and they've all been on new systems they've released throughout the years.

Paper Mario = 2001, N64
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door = 2004, GameCube
Super Paper Mario = 2007, Wii
Paper Mario: Sticker Star = 2012, 3DS
Paper Mario: Color Splash = 2016, Wii U
Paper Mario: The Origami King = 2020, Switch

Between PMTTYD to SPM was 3 years then to 5 years with SPM to PMSS, but still technically four years.

I am so excited about this!! I’m fairly new to Paper Mario because my partner convinced me to play The Thousand Year Door a couple of months ago, but I quickly fell in loooooove with the game and I’m so excited to see the series making a huge comeback! Plus it’s coming out so soon, how amazing!! I wish I had grown up playing more Mario games, but tbh it’s better late than never lolol

l'm talking about those other paper mario games, the rip offs. The ones that got nothing to do with the main story

Which ones are those? I don’t think there’s ever really been a “main story” in the Paper Mario series. Pretty much all of the games stand alone. It has more to do with the aesthetic (being paper) than anything else.

I'm also confused as well?

I loved TTYD so much but when I saw this trailer I didn't really feel that excited...I think it's something to do with Sticker Star and Colour Splash lol. Still going to get it though.

The first thing I thought of was Arlo. I have to go see if he has a reaction to the news or not. He has been hoping for a new Paper Mario for at least a year or so now.

If this retains the feeling and dynamics of the older Paper Mario games then I will buy it and be so hyped. If it's a continuation of the latest entries, pass.

I so badly miss N64's Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door. Those games were so much fun and were one of the few that had endless playability for me.

I wasn't expecting a new Paper Mario to be announced, nor released so soon, so it's definitely a surprise to me. I've played all the Paper Mario games to date and beat them, including Sticker Star and Color Splash last year, which I was able to enjoy even if they weren't as good as the original 2 games. I am getting a vibe from the trailer that the Origami King will be closer to SS and CS than PM and TTYD, which isn't surprising (even if I want a Paper Mario game like those 2 so bad, lol). I don't really have any expectations for it, I'll just get it at some point, play it and see how things go.

Yeah, trust me, it gave me Color Splash vibes (at least not Sticker Star) and would love them to go back to their roots, but I'm definitely still excited because I was worried they weren't going to continue the series because of bad feedback from the previous two games.

I thought of Arlo too! It didn't take him too long to post a reaction and I enjoyed seeing what he had to think about it. I was waiting for a new Paper Mario game since the switch came out lol

I've played all the games as well, at least twice on two different big time spans to see if my opinion changed (especially for SS and CS). Of course I love the originals as always as well as SPM, SS didn't change at all... I probably even hated it more the second time around. CS, however, I was actually able to enjoy more the second time around. The battle system made it hard, but I just tried to avoid battles as much as possible.

The mario and Luigi team games. Someone told me it is connected to the stories of paper mario
I’ve never played the Mario and Luigi series, so I don’t have any firsthand experience, but to my knowledge the only thing that really connects them to PM is the fact that both are Mario RPGs. Kind of like how Paper Mario was considered the spiritual successor to Super Mario RPG due to gameplay similarities, but they don’t necessarily even take place in the same universe.

No, they aren't connected. They're both entirely their own series. The only time they were connected was in the Paper Jam game.

I never played a Paper Mario game, but that trailer got me interested it looks really good. I always thought the series was strictly RPG, but I guess there are more elements to it? I definitely want to check this game out if I'll have the time for it.

I loooove the Paper Mario games. The original 2, Super, and Color Splash are all great. Can’t wait for this one!!
