The things with a lot of good animie is they know when to stop.
One of my favorites is paranoia agent and that is only 13 episodes. But it comes to a conclusion in that short amount.
I also like Ghost in the shell but even that has many episodes that divert from the main story...
let's see what else is good...

A lot of anime isn't of the highest grade. In fact, a lot of is just down right awful. But take an anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion, for instance... Awesome stuff indeed.
