"Online" Statuses

I was wondering how long after a user logs off does the "online" status stay on for?

I have a shop and usually for people in a certain time zone (where I'm sleeping when they're usually online) it's extremely hard to find a time to meet and trade. Recently I've been trying to catch users online and as soon as I see the green dot I PM and VM them, but then they never respond and a while later I see that they are offline.

If you hit log out then you go offline immdeiately, if you just close tbt I believe you stay inactive for 15 mins before going offline
