Has anybody on here heard about the tornado in Ottawa, Canada on Friday? I live there and I was driving out to the lake with my grandfather, my cousin, and his fiance. We saw heavy winds and thunderstorms and got tornado warnings on the radio. However, we usually get warnings and nothing ends up happening. Once we got to the lake resort for the weekend, I looked up the weather back home and found out two tornadoes hit in Ottawa. 200 000 people had their power knocked out as a result and as of this morning, about 40 000 were without power still. I got home earlier this afternoon and my power had been back on since yesterday. (When I found out about the tornado I checked reddit as often as I could for updates and my area got power back)

My mom and I were not at all prepared for this and we are extremely lucky. My cousin and his fiance still do not have their power back on and they have lost their fresh food. There is no damage to our home that we can see, but one of her friends lost half of her deck. Another friend was told to evacuate overnight.

I live in Ontario so yes, I heard about it. My friend goes to university in Ottawa and said the power and hydro in her residence was out for days. She was out at that time of the tornado and couldn't get back home so her and several others had to take shelter in someone's apartment.

I'm glad you and your mom are ok!
