Pelly, Phyllis, and Pete

Sorry if a thread has been made like this already.

Since we can send mail from the airport now, what do you think will happen to these three? I can see Pete walking around delivering mail again, but what about the girls? Do you think they will be returning in this game, and if so what do you think they will be doing? I feel like they?re going to be in the game somehow, but I don?t think the post office will be returning so they must be doing something else.

i saw somebody say that the letters in the airport are more for postcards so maybe we’ll still get a post office? i’m not sure though, but it’d really suck for them to not be in new horizons

I’m sure they’ll still be in the game. The post office was also used to store mail, send letters to your future self/other players, and I doubt those features will be removed.

I think the best bit is that Resetti got a job rescuing you, when I'm near certain he is part of my anxiety riddled life today haha!

I bet they will be returning. As Nooblord said, the post office lets you save letters from your favorite villagers. They might be part of an upgrade to Dodo airlines, their own separate building, or even part of town hall. We don't know yet.

phyllis and pelly will now operate a "new horizons diner". Pelly is the nice server and phyllis is the one who spits in your food. Pete is there. Brewster refuses to enter the building.

What if those post cards were something you could send to villagers who weren't yet in your town that you had met outside of your island, maybe on one of those excursions you take to a random deserted one? This is really unlikely obviously but it was just a thought that popped up into my head lol. Hopefully Pelly and Phyllis return. They were some of my absolute favorites.

I was really disappointed too, because I have very fond memories of how it all looked in the GameCube. Able Sisters looks so cute and nostalgic and it would be amazing to have a standalone post office like back in the GameCube days!!!

So maybe you?ll be able to unlock the standalone post office later and it has more features. Could even include the highly-requested feature of sending mail to friends online. That would be reason enough to want to upgrade to a standalone post office.

That would be a nice surprise! Plus, for all we know unlocking it could be achieved by sending x number of postcards to your villagers.

I've got to be honest, I don't have high hopes for the NPCs that haven't been shown so far. I doubt there's going to be an overload of NPCs, but obviously they aren't going to show off every character in a direct. I don't know, I just suppose that I can't imagine where Pelly and Phyllis fit in the general scheme of the game based on the limited amount of information that we know.

Hopefully Pelly and Phyllis still get a decent role in something mail-related; I doubt they'd get removed entirely but I don't want to see them shoved into a tiny useless role. I feel like they'd have been well-suited to Isabelle's job since it's similar to what they did in WW/CF's town hall but I guess then Isabelle wouldn't have a place anywhere and they had to put her somewhere because she's so popular. I do miss having them in the town hall, though; I rarely ever visited the post office in NL so it felt like a major downgrade for them.

I like OhDeerieMe’s idea of upgrading to a standalone Post Office and having them be there. That could work! I’d be happy with that.

Any of the old villagers that are not seemingly used could be fair game for this I would think.
