It's super common. I know that for a fact. The real question is why do people freak out over it?

People freak out over it because there are multiple unconfirmed myths about duping.One of them is that if you dupe you can corrupt your data,or you could lose the items you are trying to dupe.There's no proof of this,but it's enough to scare some people into not doing it.Also there are a few people out there that are completely against cheating in any sort of way,and it also impacts the trading system badly.I don't dupe myself,but I don't particularly disagree with it either.

If you see someone duping, report it. If you see someone selling 'unsellable/orderable/unreleased' items, report it. Simple as that. It's a rule.
