Yeah I get that. I am sure I am on a lot of people's ignore list from back in 2020 when I wasn't quiet about how much I disapproved of New Horizon's direction it was going with the terrible drip-feed, content drought, barebone launch, decisions that were done that felt like they padded the game's time artificially through boring grinds, rather scummy decisions to lock things behind paywalls ex: online, needing an entire system to have a second island, ect.
I still find it to be an enjoyable game, but not what I was expecting to get into when I pre-ordered it. I wasn't very vocal about it until I noticed how passive aggressive and borderline rude people were to those that were voicing their opinion without any ill intent.
From what I learned from GameFAQs forums when reading about why it’s full of toxic negativity, every Nintendo fansite has gotten more arrogant since the Switch came out, with the Nintendo subreddits being the most unfriendly places for critics. If you complain about Nintendo on any of the subreddits dedicated to a Nintendo subject, whether or not the moderators are involved, you will become subject to ostracizing, mockery, and bullying. The only exception is Pokémon, but that’s because the fanbase is too divided.
And yes, Nintendo has gone downhill, not just for ACNH, but everywhere. While the new Zelda games are just fine, almost everywhere else had a decline in quality, with Pokémon Sword/Shield, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, and Scarlet/Violet being the prime examples. Third party games, there are several examples where they run terrible on the Switch. Nintendo Switch Online, some of the apps still have missing titles while the N64 games don’t run as well. Super Mario 3D All-Stars, having three emulator ports instead of full-on remakes with a $60 price tag wasn’t a good decision, and neither is having a limited release window. There also hasn’t been a new Star Fox game, a new Donkey Kong game, fixes to the Joy-Con drift issue, and no new background themes for the Switch (Wii U lacked this too). Of course these problems are going to bring complaints from fans.
As long as you don’t get rude about criticizing Nintendo, their games, or their business practices, you have the right and reason to criticize them. They’re still far from being the worst company. They’re not even the worst gaming company. All I can say is that Nintendo today isn’t as good as it was under Hiroshi Yamauchi’s management.
