I remember being told that if I want to discuss politics online (after this site got tired of political discussions), I should join a conservative site to suit my needs. I’m glad that I didn’t. Over those 31 months I’ve been in the dark, I have not joined any new websites. And if I were to either stay on this site or join a conservative website, at this point, it would be better to stay on TBT than join these conservative sites I just spoke about and against.
While I’m far into the minority over my political views here, this site benefits me better for these reasons:
- I can get my Bells or other items in ACNH.
- I can get more dream visitors to my island.
- I can talk about my other interests, like The Ghost and Molly McGee.
- I can get help done on some of my projects.
The conservative alternatives, on the other hand:
- Would have no tolerance towards me for being pro-environment or pro-LGBT.
- Would shun me for liking any Disney content even harder than members on this site ever done to me for being too conservative.
- Are poorly organized and were made just to appease right-wingers.
- Have been responsible for the Jan 6 Insurrection or other criminal activities.
The last one is the strongest reason why I should avoid joining or browsing these sites. Even if I don’t get involved in these activities, I could still face trouble if I were a member. As for the second reason, I’m a fan of The Ghost and Molly McGee. TGAMM is one of these more “woke” shows on the Disney Channel, made by two liberal creators. There’s no way I would survive sites like these conservative sites if I’m going to be a fan of that show. That, and I’m still embracing Disney’s animation canon and willing to go to Disneyland again, something that is now taboo among the right. Finally, The Bell Tree knows me well, has been very friendly and helpful, and enjoyed having me in the events. It’s not worth leaving a site that needed me and gave me positive memories in favor of these alt-tech sites just for one thing (a thing that’s always negative).
