24. 4pm. I had no doubt that this would be the worst one. It was actually the first hourly theme I ever heard in game, which was short lived as it was about 4:50, so it luckily changed to a better song. Compared to my least favorite hourly themes from other games, it's not nearly as bad but I still dislike this song.
23. 3pm. This is going to be
so exciting because I don't dislike any other songs besides 4pm. This song just feels a little annoying. At the same time, it feels like it's playful because before you know it it's midnight.
22. 5am. I used to this song was creepy, but I think it's pretty fitting for the time of day. Villagers are about to start waking up and the day will be starting, so this song is wrapping up everything from the night. I also just want to say that I love the way it looks at this time in AC.
21. 6am. The day is starting and it's a slow start. If you don't have Early Bird on, normals should be the only other villagers awake right now. The scenery this song paints is really good.
20. 9pm. Kind of a meme, but in game it's not too fun to listen to it for an hour. But I think this song feels like the night is actually beginning now.
19. 10am. It just sounds like how 10am could feel to a kid.
18. 2am. I used to dislike this song, but this was before I actually listened to the song fully. The entire segment before it loops definitely boosts the song's ranking, but the baritone guitar sounds really high pitched and screechy here.
17. 12pm. It's a little forgettable, but I like it because all of the marimba like instruments just sound really satisfying to listen to.
16. 2pm. Possibly my least favorite 2pm, but it's not that bad. Just meh.
15. 12am. It sounds like a worse version of Wild World's 12am, but it still kind of captures the feeling of that song. This song is just less ambient.
14. 7am. It feels like music that would play if you're just starting your day and it's 7am. It's a little tired, while still being progressive.
13. 3am. The first time I heard this song, I immediately loved it and I thought I'd be able to appreciate it a lot more if I could actually hear it in game. I did end up hearing it in game one time, but because it's not a time I'm awake at on a normal day, I never normally hear it. It's still good for what it is.
12. 11am. Relaxing. It's just what would play on a weekend after you're done doing everything important and you can just relax because you don't have any responsibilities. At least for the next hour.
11. 9am. This feels like what would play on a weekend when you don't have anything to do, except when you wake up earlier.
10. 6pm. It feels like Wild World 6pm, but the day is ending on a sadder note. Something I think is perfectly complemented by the song that plays immediately after.
9. 7pm. It's very fast-paced for the hour, which is weird because in other games it's calm, something that is normally the opposite with hourly themes. It feels like it's rushing like the day is since soon it's going to be completely dark out. I know this is a very polarizing song as people either love it or find it very creepy and refuse to listen to it. You can probably tell what side I'm on based on its ranking.
8. 8pm. It feels like the existential crisis of 7pm and 6pm is finally over and it's calm now, accepting that the day is over.
7. 10pm. I like the marimba and guitar in this song. I used to find this one of the least sad songs of the night, but I think the part before it loops made me change my mind. It does sound kind of sad and short, like the rest of the song.
6. 1am. Very sad and depressing. I think it's similar to 2am in Wild World. There is one thing I find weird, which is that it feels a little out of place to play after 12am, but they both still fit their placement. I feel like this is the song you could find the most depressing comments on.
5. 4am. This is also polarizing. You either think it's super creepy or it's calm. I think it's only considered scary because of Aika village, but whatever. I also thought it was a little creepy because of the repetitiveness, but I think it's a lot calmer than I originally thought. Especially when the piano starts to overlay the xylophone like instrument. If 1am is the NL version of WW 2am, then this song is the NL version of WW 3am. It's calm and seems like things will look up.
4. 1pm. Pretty classic afternoon music. It was played in the game trailer, and I think it's probably the most fitting trailer music for this game besides 8am and 9am.
3. 8am. Like I just said, this is fitting for New Leaf trailer music because it captures the feeling of the game. Not just because it includes the leitmotif, it's just calm at some parts and fast at others.
2. 5pm. Just like the original 5pm, this song has a bossa nova beat, and apparently even has the same tempo. It's also even better in my opinion. Especially the piano and guitar part before the loop, and then the background baritone part. This probably sounds so confusing to people who aren't used to instruments
.
1. 11pm. This has always been my favorite hourly theme in any AC game. Just like New Leaf, I can't really describe why I like it this much. You just really need to go listen to it yourself to see if you agree.
