I used to read "The Giving Tree" as a kid. I didn't know that the book was considered "controversial" at the time reading it. It's really strange that a simple parable type story could be divisive as I'm used to the open-ended nature in some books. Also, I didn't know that Shel Silverstein is a singer/musician so I've learned something new I guess.

I loved Shel Silverstein as a kid!! I read his poetry books many times from the library. I found them comforting, weird, and fun.
I read the giving tree many times also, and I always loved the book even though I saw and still see it as a sad book. I remember other kids either loving it or hating it.
I watched the whole video you gave there. The interpretations shared are interesting, and never knew it was considered a controversial book, but I suppose it is.
How I saw it as a kid was nature based. Be respectful and mindful to trees, nature, and general natural resources. I guess that wasn't a common perspective.. but we need to care for each other even if the tree isn't a human or an interactive animal.
I guess it turns out there are a couple of his books I haven't read. Idk if I ever will get around to them, but maybe one day.
I didn't know anything about his personal life, beyond the fact he had some kids because of the dedication to them at the beginning of the books. Not sure how I feel about these details in the video. I think I'd be fine not knowing lol. I didn't wonder before.

I once used a guy for YouTube walkthroughs on video games although I never really sat there and watched his full videos.

Another time my cousin was dating a man who turned out to be that YouTuber. I met him in person when we stopped by his house.

The moment it clicked 'this is the same person' was an out of this world bizarre feeling.

There is a lady I know who wears a bright pink sweater often that has big cheetahs knitted into it in a few places like a pattern. I always like it and made me smile inside.
Anyway, your comment reminded me of her sweater.
Also, I bought this notebook from dollar tree one time just because I liked it and I really need to attempt journalling, and thought it was a good one to start with because it is small.
I'm not sure if these are actually considered cheetahs but the pink one with yellow spots has awfully long legs so

To tell you the hard truth, I NEVER liked Male Villager. Female Villager was always my favorite. I just chose Male Villager as my go-to aesthetic choice because I was to embarrassed to show others that I always liked the Female Villager more. I mean, doesn't it seem weird that a boy like me would go all lovey-dovey on this character? It's like the equivalent to a male Pokemon player playing as the Female Protagonist when the golden rule is to always play as the gender you are, whether you like the protagonist's design or not.

And the same went for when I used to play with you guys on Mario Kart 8, I always picked Male Villager to hide my shame.
But today, I decided to spread my wings, strut my stuff, swallow my pride in showing that I am not a weenie loser who loves a character that isn't my own gender.

And because of that, I decided to give out a 10 page essay on why I love Female Villager more than Male Villager:

It's fun! I like finally seeing these characters in a game. I see sonic characters all over the place so I had some familiarity.

I'm actually not accustomed to how fast sonic moves so there's been a lot of fumbling as I try to get a hang of it.
