Turtwig. Its my favorite one!

I almost always start with fire type Pokémon but in DP I went with Piplup. I believe I’ll probably be choosing that again. They’re not my favourite starter Pokémon (based purely on looks!) so it’s quite a hard decision.

I started with Piplup in my first playthrough but I didn't use him as much as turtwig. I hope they mix up the Pokemon you can find pre E4 because having your options for a fire type be Chimchar or Ponyta was terrible. I like Ponyta but it's not my favorite fire Pokemon

If I ending up getting one of the games, I would pick either Piplup or Turtwig.

Chimchar! He was my buddy back in the days of the originals.

I’m not surprised we are getting Sinnoh remakes but at the same time I can’t believe it’s been so long since the originals already to warrant remakes. Time flies.

I'll pick Turtwig. I played with Infernape on my sisters copy of Diamond when I was younger and I used Piplup in a fan game (Pokemon Brick Bronze, now closed down) so Turtwig is the only one left and I do quite like his design.

I think I will wait for more information before I decide if I want to get the game, though, as I want to see how the underground and contests will work in more detail!

Turtwig will be my pick! His evolution line is the most interesting in my opinion. Piplup is pretty cute too though but I have a soft spot for grass types.

When i first heard the names of the games i was like wat, Dazzling Diamond and Prescious Pearl would have been better IMO

Piplup. Honestly though I like the new Pokemon Arecus game MUCH more. The new remakes just don't seem that good to me and it seems like a downgrade from Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu. Plus I love how you can catch pokemon without entering a battle which I've been waiting for for a while.

I'd go with Chimchar. I wasn't ever a fan of Piplup and Turtwig was sort of just there. Chimchar though? Bring the heat.

I’m definitely getting Shining Pearl and I’m definitely going to go with Piplup as my starter. I believe that’s what I went with a long time ago. ^-^

depends on one very important detail -- the dex. if they go with the basic DP dex i'm picking chimchar, because having one of the only fire types in sinnoh would be invaluable.

if they go with the platinum dex (as it looks like they're gonna), though, i'm picking piplup; it was what i picked back in 2007 with my first runthrough of pearl, so choosing it again for the remakes seems fitting.

I’m choosing Turtwig but I don’t like using the same Pokémon more than once so he’ll be shoved in the PC.

Technically I'm picking Turtwig. But I plan on using all three.

The reason is because I picked Chimchar in my first Sinnoh playthrough and Piplup in my second. This will be my third, so I'm picking Turtwig. However, I will breed my Infernape and Empoleon with Ditto to get a Chimchar and Piplup, and transfer them up from Platinum to Brilliant Diamond. So I'll be using my starters' children.

Whenever I play Pokemon I always tend to pick the fire types because I am always drawn to them. When I played Pearl I chose Chimchar, I would like to say that I am going to do something different but more likely than not I will be picking the fire type. I do think that Piplup is cute, I may consider choosing Piplup just because of how cute the Pokemon is but I do really badly if I start with a water or grass type for whatever reason.
